Re: Post your best mod\'s for under a $100 !
My best mod for under 100 bucks on my 79 C10 2wd was the purchase of an edelbrock performer carb(used at a swap meet)for 50 bucks(600 cfm) and a custom made aluminum adapter at the machine shop for 25 bucks to allow me to bolt it on in place of the crappy 2SE rochester 2 bbl carb(second vehicle I've owned with a "camel humper"straight 6 and this carb, they run poorly and hesitate badly despite rebuilding etc)so I had enough of that--I disconnected the secondaries--it really doesnt need them--It now has no hesitation,a lot more power(I'd say about 30 hp more than before)and on a recent trip to CT I got 22 mpg!, /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gifit averages between 15 and 20.It looks cool too--it faces the drivers side fender, not like in a V8!.I've had more than my share of strange looks at the cruise nights when they look at it and say"what the hell is that!!"one guy said the carb looks bigger than the engine!.It made a new engine out of it compared to how it used to run.How it runs well on the jets that are in it is beyond me,its jetted pretty rich, but the plugs are perfect cocoa brown--so I ain't gonna mess with it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
