Going to repaint the "root beer float" this week (hopefully) and I'm looking for some cool ideas to throw on there. I have a lot of rustoleum gloss black paint sitting around but I'm kind of tired of black, my last rig was black it's time for a change. So throw me some ideas ! Let's see your custom paint jobs!

I'll post mine:

i did not paint this car, this is after i sold it. *DOH*

I painted my Nova with flat black tractor paint, looked good from a distance (as good as a $75 paint job can look) but looked so ****ty up close becuase dust just clung on like crazy. Living on a gravel road and driving like Bo Duke didnt help either:D

When I do my 79 I think it will be some sort of 2 tone, more than likely black and silver but maybe I will go with a similar blue with the white 2 tone. I will use tractor paint again becuase its cheap, im not building a show car, and theres too much rust to fix.

hows krylon...?

They have all kinds of colors at walmart. The 2nd one is a lil more clear.

no more pics of the 79 currently. its all stock right now, no lift, mix of 235/85 and 265's. I hope when I get out for summer break I can afford to do some more with it.

And you can get the rustoleum paint almost anywhere Ive seen it at Wal Mart, Home depot and Menards. They might even have more colors available now too.

$200 in primer and Krylon Ultraflat from Walmart:

Rather less than that in three shades of gloss blue from the local hardware store, what is now known as Urban Smurf Camo:

Camo isn't for everyone, but it does hide a GREAT many sins of bodywork, poor painting/prep, or just plain ugly truck :haha:

I'm looking for a 85-style K5 with a black top and hugger orange body. That is what I plan on doing.

Well here is an '85. It's not Hugger, but it's orange. Black top in dyer need of paint. Sorry for the crappy pic, but it disguises the painters F'up that hasn't been fixed yet.:eek1::mad:

Here's a rear pic to see the true color against the black. I don't like the black, I plan on a tan soft top as soon as the interior is done, and the paint fixed.:D

About the truck in question, if it's the brown truck that was recently posted somewhere around here, I like the brown paint. Maybe I'm remembering a different truck though.

Your door is a different shade of orange.:D

So is the other one. Don't wash it for 9 month's and take crappy pics, it doesn't show exactly how bad it is. Lots of time and money into something that looks like chit.:doah:

And just think, I spent lots less money ... though lots of time ... for something that looks like chit :haha:

I traded work for work to a body shop. His stuff doesn't get finished till mine gets fixed. The worst part about the whole thing is the truck is supposed to be the color of the doors.:doah::doah:

That sucks that he ****ed up... but damn, Thats one sweet lookin K5

any specs on the thing?
