Power Booster Problem, Please Advise

Hey guys, hope all is well. I need some help. I have a 87 Burb 1/2 ton 4x4. I can here air leaking inside the cab when I press the pedal. Sounds like a lot of air leaking. Pedal goes almost to the floor. It is not a hydroboost. Do you think its the power booster or something else? Thanks.

Yep, sounds like the brake booster is going out on it. Find one at a yard unless you want to pay the $150ish for a new one.

Ya, that's what I Thought. I had it almost all the way out then my wife and I went to diner. When I got back home my brake lights were on. Should have known that I needed to disconnect the battery. Its a PITA to take out.

did you remove any cruise control ?

i did on a 83. the vac dump switch on the brake pedel then was open line. everytime i hit the brakes it was a big leak sound.

i didnt know and swaped 2 booster and then found it by mistake.

simple fix by pluging hose.

Wow. Thanks for the info on that. I just found that vacuum line. My cruise control has'nt worked forever. The hose looks good from what I can see.I can see only a couple inches though. The rest is covered in electrical tape. The booster is almost out execpt for the clip on the brake pedal. No turning back now. Once I change the booster, if there is still a problem, it has to be that line. Thanks SweetK30.

Just got the booster out. I pushed on the rod and a big air leak. Time for a new booster now. Thanks.
