Ok so I had a 115 gallon saddle tank given to me. It has had diesel in it and still has a little (less than a gallon). What steps do I need to do to store gas in it.

I know flush it out but what should I use and should I put additives in it. This will be a SHTF reserve.

Any help is much appreciated.

There are fuel stabilizers that you should be using for long term storage, and if you have the option some marine locations sell the fuel with NO ethanol, it will be better for your tank and your future use.
And for cleaning it, I would just dump it and fill with gas, traces won't really do anything.

Put in fuel treatment of choice, put in gas. seal and walk away.

Two or three months from now, use twenty or so gallons of it, put in more treatment refill and start again.

Don't worry about the diesel. We have tanks at work that get switched weekly between gas and diesel and now harm is done.

If the S really does HTF, methinks you'll want a handful or more of them 115gal tanks on-hand...

On the farm back home, we had 5k gallon diesel tanks (one for road vehicles and one for farm equipment) and a 2k gallon gasoline tank. Bought the fuel direct from the distributor at wholesale when the prices dipped a little.

And we bought sta-bil by the gallon, not them cute little shot-glass-sized containers at Wal-Fart.

I've been putting a half-gallon to a gallon of diesel in my gas tank every few months... Then fill up with gas. I've always been told it's a halfway decent fuel injector cleaner... No problems out of my Z71 Tahoe ('00)... Been doing it for the last 50k miles or so.

Wait, you mean the "Farm" and the "Road" Diesel aren't the same?

I know this. I was being silly. I still wonder how they check it on a 6.2.

They get three guys from Washington DC. One drives it on to a lift while the other two watch. The second one flip open the filler. The third one sticks a big stick in you hole.

The three confer and then your screwed!

Unless they are taking it off the filter drain they won't catch me.
