Just as the title says. What would be better 2wd or 4wd. 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. I found a 79 3/4 2wd with a 454 for 850. I figure I will ditch the bed shorten the ends of the frame tube the rear with some fiberglass shortbed skins and an all fiberglass front end. What would I do for suspensionon a 2wd. On a 4wd I am assuming a well planned out 4 link. Any tips or suggestions or just plain opinions wanted.

Leaf springs work just fine, If wait another couple months mine will have front and rear suspension that is dezert tested and approved.

it all depends on how much money u are willing to spend. fabtech makes a 4 inch kit for 2wd 1/2 ton, or u could call around to see if there is any fab shop willing to make a long travel front end for u, but thats not cheap at all. as for the rear leafs work ok, i have friends that run leafs in there short coarse race trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Ok, more info and pitcures of the front suspension. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since you live in Fallon, I think VORRA does a race there. Go check it out when they do. They love to talk shop and share tips. I know there is a guy who runs an older Ford. I know nto a Chevy, but you could definately get some ideas from his truck and see what he has done to it.

Check out dezert people II is you want to see that truck in action. My favorite shot of that truck is after the calamity the camera pans in to show the "Remember, You're driving this Home." sticker on the cage just above the center mirror.
