I have a bad leak and I believe it is power steering fluid. If you get under the truck it is a mess and everything is wet. If I leave the truck sitting for 5 min there is a large wet spot. It is right under the front pumpkin deal. A mechanic at my brothers shop said it may be the pump itself leaking and all the fluid is just getting blown everywhere. I have a new power steering pump at home and will get installed this weekend. I just hope it is the power steering and not oil:doah: Any past experiences or advice you guys have would help. I've tried to clean off everything and locate the leak, but it is still hard for me to find. I just really want to make sure it is power steering fluid and not oil. Is there an easy way to check or tell?

Check the dipsticks and see which one is getting low. If the leak is that big you will notice a drop on the dipstick.

Get under there with a rag and clean up all that sprayed oil. Then run the truck and get back underneath and search for seepage.

What color/smell is the liquid? This may give you an idea of what is leaking. I also agree on checking fluid levels.

Hey will...

My tire is flat... Do you think it's leaking???
:whistle::whistle:

Lol I'm sorry but your post was kinda silly and had little info for us lol.

Power steering dosnt hold that much fluid. Mightnot be it. Figure out what's leaking before you smoke your trans or motor. Front diff dosnt hold that much fluid either so probably not that.

Red = power steering or trans
Black or dark brown = motor oil or a smoked trans

3 dipsticks under your hood. Start checking em.

Okay...I just did an oil change and it is impossible to see the oil on the dipstick...I dont see any but when I wipe it off, there is some on it...Power steering is going down for sure. A few days ago it all ran out and I added a bottle to it...If oil is in fact leaking also, it is coming from the very front and bottom of the motor by the dizzy. Everything under the dizzy is wet. The reason I can't tell if it is oil or not is because I got power steering fluid that looks just like oil:doah: I am going to put red tranny fluid in her and see where we go from there. I am trying to explain it to where I am not looking too dumb for you Adam:D

Well if you are adding to the ps pump then we at least know it's leaking.

Clean everything good then fire it up and watch for leaks. Might help to have a friend turn wheels

Front bottom by distributor? :dunno:

^^ this. :dunno:

I have been through 3 PS pumps that leaked bad from the front shaft seal. They were ok on the street, but off road and under load they would shoot fluid everywhere and it hit the fan and then covered the entire motor. The air moves around pretty good in the engine bay, so even though the oil is all over the leak may be somewhere else. Just food for thought.
