Pretty sweet "hidden" trick on the blazer

I don't have a latch on the outside...Its just a deal to put a key in....Unfortunately I don't have the handle on the inside either so I undid the little metal latch it hooks on to. I just roll up the window so it stays in place for now...

Cept I took the switch out that only allows the glass to go up when it's closed, that's silly, how am I supposed to clean and live the gears if its gotta be closed lol.
 
Someone told me that they used to remove the tailgates off the 90's F-series trucks, at the dealer.
I guess they were so easy to remove, people started stealing them... :haha:
 
Its easier to steal a tailgate than just about anything on a truck. Except maybe an antenna. But you might need a wrench to do the antenna if its tight, tailgate is lower it, unhook straps, and lift. But you would look funny going down the street with a tailgate over your head. Strangely, tail lights are popular to be stolen as well. And sadly, idiots can buy them at the yard for 10 bucks, and might get their a$$es shot stealing them. Obviously worth the risk. :haha:

They're discussing quick release pick up truck tailgates.

The K5 gates are all the same, a key switch or manual handle outside to roll the window up/down. And a release handle inside to open it.

And no one is stealing a K5 gate with any sort of speed. Unless rust has disconnected the hinges from the tailpan.

Wil, you really should fix the latching mechanism. It's a very simple system, just remove the screws for the inside cover and have a look inside. I bet the problem will be plainly obvious.
 
As far as i know The handle is missing....I will have to open her up and see if anything else is missing

Are you saying the tailgate latches are disabled and the gate is only held up by the glass?

Tailgate is easier on my truck. If a thief wants the antenna he has to remove the whole windshield :pimp:.
 
You could always get older hinges, don't know what the year cut off is, but my 74 pickup didn't have quick release hinges, you had to unbolt the hinge, full circle on both sides...as far as stealing a blazer gate, the torsion springs should be an effective deterrent, as well as the un bolting of the hinges.
 
It's mainly the tailgates off of newer trucks, many of them have backup cameras and they are expensive to replace and easily taken.

Then again, some people would rob themselves if there was no one else. I never thought anyone would bother to undertake the risk of stealing catalytic converters from under a car, but whatever they have to do to get their meth fix, I guess.

Right, nothing fast about removing a K5 tailgate. Mine was literally falling off, still took me about 20 minutes to get them darn torsion rods to let the thing go.
