Anyone know what a mid 80's ElCamino in good condition should go for ??? Doesn't need to be a SS, I'd be happy with a base model. Just wondering befor I start looking for one.

Speaking of SS models, and don't flame since I'm not familiar with the power issues here; but yesterday on "Trucks" they were doing the cosmetics for changing a regular Elco into an SS model. Pretty cool.

Noooooo! Not the fake SS switch!!! If you do end up wanting to get an SS, check the VIN to make sure it really is an SS. I've heard some dealers putting Ss stickers on non SS El Caminos, in fact, a was talking to a lady at a bike shop who was convinced hers was an SS becasue it came with SS stickers on the doors from the dealership, even though it didn't have the SS front end or any other SS options.

To be honest, I'd like about a 85 with a 4.3 V-6. I had a 85 Monte Carlo CL with a 4.3 V-6 that most people thought must have a V-8 couse it'd get up and move. That 4.3 even got fairly good gas milage.

Paul, there are several SS El Caminos around here for sale. Also know where you can get a free parts car, also an SS. I will be in town maybe tomorrow and I will try to get you a number. One of them is Sweet.........

Any idea what one like this should go for. I'm looking for one in about the same shape with in 500 miles of me. I like the mid 80's modles, and a 4.3 V-6 would be great. How much do y'all think I'd have to pay for one in the same condition ??? I like fixing them up over a period of time.

I was thinking about the same. Just wanted someone to confirm my thoughts. Rebuilding a 4.3 is really no different then rebuilding a 350, so that's no biggie.
