Been looking into some primer..Dammm its been a long time that I had to by any paint or primers other than ready in a can spray stuff.Back in the day all there was in a few differant colors and you thin it down and shoot.

Now there is epoxy, etching, high build(I know this one) ect. They have to be mixed with reducer or an activator ect.

What the heck do I want to buy for a first coat or do I really have to do more than one coat of some different type primer? I also want to make sure I don't get the old rust blisters back under the paint?Flippen confused here. I need to move into the new era!!!

I like zinc, then a urethane fill primer... been using a ton of duponts 2k series urethane in recent years... love the stuff, and economical too....

I was thinking on a etching primer and then a primer sealer before shooting it.Been looking at summits new paints and think I might give them a try.

For bare metal it is always advised to use an etching primer then filler primer and then sealer before base coat of color. I prefer to use Du-Pont etching primer and filler primer. It is also best to keep etching primer off of any bondo/plastic work that you do. Etching primer protects the metal from rust in the future. If you don't put it on bare metal then you can run the risk of your paint bubbling up from rust under the paint. Check out your local auto body paint supply store, they can also give you a lot of tips on what works for what you are doing. PPG also makes some good primers.
