Finally got the top painted this past weekend. It was a crude and quick paint job but it has at least one decent coat of flat black on it now. This will suffice until I can get a soft top.

Ordered a fuel filter base finally. Hoping to go tomorrow and find a filter and some fittings for it to hook up the fuel lines. Get rid of that leaking cartridge filter set up soon.

Not much of an update, life has been busy and I haven't had the chance to work on the blazer much. I did pull the old fuel filter and housing off a while back. Went to town to try to locate some fittings. No luck, going to have to just find some online and order them. I did get the rubber floor mat and insulation pulled out of the interior a while back in preparation for the body lift and new body bushings. The floor is pretty rusted which I figured but the mat was covering up a lot.

I'm leaning more towards making the blazer the crawler and ditching the burb due to all of the rust. I don't know. Was wanting a nice driver and I don't know that I want to start tackling all of the rust to make it nice.

I'm also working on selling my place and getting a shop built down at my fiances place to get all of my stuff moved. Two Sundays ago I pulled the Dana 60 out of the front of the burb as it was loosely bolted in and its torn down except for the pinion still in it. I was going to work on cleaning it up some and try to get the knuckles back on so I could at least make it back into a roller to get it ready to move. Ive picked up the 60 many times before just as it sets now but that day wasn't my day. I killed my back and have been down enough these last two weeks that I really didn't feel like doing much. I hurt it 20 plus years ago and ended up with two herniated discs in my lower back. Every once in a while they will give me fits or...I do something to cause my back to act up. This time it was simply being bent over and slightly picking up on the diff end of the 60 to rotate it on jack stands to try to clean the bottom and put the lower king pin seals and races in.

Last night I did get the front seats bolted back in. I wanted to due more but the back said better hold off.

I finally ordered the fittings as I couldn't find anything that would work from anywhere local. The two for the filter base itself came in and they work, waiting on a barb adapter to show up still. Ordered the "correct" spin on filter through Napa. Its the correct thread size but I wish the gasket was a little bigger around. the filter base itself has a big gasket contact area and there's plenty of gasket from the filter touching it but the inside diameter of the gasket barely touches the inside of the gasket mounting area and sticks in a little. If that makes since. I don't think it will be a problem with anything though but we shall see. I need to pull one of the old mounting bolts to go get two new longer bolts and some spacers to get it off the firewall some and start mounting it.

I need to get it running again so I can move it to be able to fix part of my shop that is right in front of it. It use to be one of the shop doors and the previous owners closed it in when they built the apartment part in the shop and they never finished it out. I'm just going to screw some tin up there to match the rest of the shop but need the blazer out of the way. This will make it look better for selling purposes.

The other barb adapters arrived last night for the fuel filter conversion. I have to run home after work but then will come back to town and hopefully find some longer mounting bolts to get the housing bolted back on the firewall and figure out some sort of spacer idea for mounting it also. Most likely just going to grab some washers for now so that hopefully it will be back up and running tonight. Ive missed driving it and need to quit procrastinating doing things so much.

You are going to love those bushing and body spacers. Do you have something ready for the bumpers and hitch (if it has)

Nothing 100% planned at the moment. Debating about ditching them and going with an DIY4X A-Bomb up front and possibly building something for the rear that wraps around and protects the rear quarters some. But haven't settled on anything as of yet.

Tightened the filter. Primed it, least I believe so. I never had fuel come out of the bleeder but I am assuming it would come out. I got to thinking about it and the way the bleeder is made, it might only allow air out and not fuel. The primer bulb got to where it would push in but not come back out with out setting for a bit. So that also makes it seem that the system maybe primed and that I wouldn't get fuel out of the bleeder but just air. So I hit the key and nothing. Batteries are dead again. I have a charging issue that I haven't tracked down and honestly haven't tried to track down very much. I want to convert it to 12 volt from 24, i want to convert it from v belt to a serpentine belt set up from a 6.5 diesel, and I want to convert it from an auto to the NV4500 I have which supposedly requires a different starter from the auto to the manual and I need a new starter anyways to convert from 24 volt to 12.

So all of that needs to happen kind of at the same time and I'm still collecting parts for it all.

I am going to pull the batteries and have them tested to see if one is dead because I did put the battery charger on it and it didn't seem to want to take a charge.

Connect the dead battery to a known good one with 10+ volts and then connect the charger to them. It should slowly charge them both.

Over a year update: Sold my place last August. Got everything moved to my wife's place (got married November 2024) and just hauled the blazer to her place. Her parents own 20 acres right there where they live and we already live on part of it. They are going to deed us over 5 acres. I fiddle farted around about getting the land surveyed not knowing that process would take almost three months to get on their schedule and they finally showing up to do it and waiting on them to get it all finalized and get back to us. Have to get that done to get it legally in our name and then can start loan process on a shop and a new trailer house. We have a lot of money saved, should be enough to pay for the shop but I want to get both the new trailer and shop at the same time so we will split the money saved between them and get a loan for both.

I have literally done nothing on the blazer except every once in a while go out to where its setting and look at it. LOL. It still has a charging issue and I'm going to convert it to 12 volts. Need to just order a starter and I keep putting it off/find other things I need to buy for other things that are more important than the blazer right now.

I did however just order some of ORD new front upper shock mounts and some other things.... :doah:

I need to just drag it into the yard and do some work on it.

Great update, the wait will definitely be worth it. I wish I had moved for land instead of jumping into a shop all hot and heavy.

No real update, drug it out of the pasture last night and into the yard to hopefully start working on it some and get it running again. Unfortunately I let it set too long and the mice have had a hay day with the wiring so that’s going to be fun to fix.

Not a great pic but some of the crap the dang mice packed in on top of the engine. I spent some time last night and got most of it cleaned out and vacuumed all the inside out to try and get rid of all the poop. I also bolted the rear seat back in. I had removed it so I could pull the rubber floor covering a previous owner had installed. It was one with the insulation backing so it had held moisture and has caused some rusting issues.

I still need to get the rest of the crap out from under the intake that the mice/rats deposited.

I emailed FAST products tech support and asked for a wiring diagram for their transmission controller as the mice had fun with all of those wires. A previous owner swapped in a 4L60e and used a controller and wiring from Fast. They emailed me back within the hour and sent me the installation instructions which had the wiring schematics also. So hopefully that will help me for now.

Yeah I have lots of vehicles so some sit for long and I have to deal with this but for some reason other than poo all over and nut shells all over I haven't had any wires damaged, knock on wood

Bastard Mice

I hate them!

Ive had two that suffered from prolonged setting and the mice escapades. Unfortunately they were both my fault for letting them set really. My biggest problem is all of my "want to do this and this and this and it all needs to happen at once" combined with $$ to use for projects so it ends up turning into not doing much of anything and they set...
