Anyone have the ProComp Extreme Mud Terrains? I need feedback
I'm looking at them or the New Goodyear Wrangler MTR with Kevlar or the BFG Mud Terrains in a 37*12.5*17 rim size for my K5.

I currently run 38'' boggers on 16'' beadlocks and am wanting to make the truck more road friendly. I need a radial tire for 17'' rims I already purchased used that can still handle some western Oregon muddy clay, the highway, gravel roads. It is not a daily driver but more a weekend explorering vehicle.

The Procomps I am wondering about might be better for snow/ice then the Goodyears but need some feedback.

Out of those three I would go with the Good year or the BFG. The Pro Comps are a radial but will wear much quicker than the other two.

Couple of guys in my local club run the Kevlars and rave about them.

How do know they'll wear faster? Anyone have them and not the older style? I'm leaning towards the Goodyears, but does anyone have first hand knowledge of the Pro Comp Extreme Mud Terrain?

And your about the 7th or 8th person in a row that has said go with the Goodyears:)

I know because my buddy ran them on his Cherokee and they wore fast on a light rig. I've seen a few sets of Pro Comps both Mud and Xterrain wear pretty quick on others rigs.

BFG and Good Years tires are well known for their longevity.

Not to highjack, but who makes procomps? There are. Few company's making very similar tires out there. Like the coopers and the toyos ect.

I understand that Coopers makes ProComp and I have been happy with Coopers ST in the past like on my pickups.

This page says they are made by Cooper

In fact my usual tire guy suggests Cooper SST or the Xtreme Mud Terrains. He put his daughter on the Xtreme MT and she has been happy with them.

I'm just not finding much info on them from offroaders in the furom. Everyone hates the older ProComp but does not know about the Xtreme MT.

I don't have the xtreme mud terrains, but I do have the xtreme all terrains on both my trucks. 305/65-R17 on my dodge and 35-12.5R17 on my chevy, dodge has about 30,000 miles on them on the chevy has about 2500 miles. I did at one point have the Xterrains on the chevy but I put them on a ford I used to have. I've had very good luck with them, they wear pretty even, are good in any weather and handle towing 10k very well. I wouldn't think twice about running another set of procomps on a rig that sees a fair amount of street use. When I had the Xterrains they handled mud and snow very well, little bit of wheel speed and they cleaned out easily.

don't know anything about the extremes

but been quite happy with the mud terrains, been through 1.5 sets so far, still have balding ones on the back currently. I'll get a millage estimate for you. 2006 4x4 Duramax CCLB 35"s

Swamper SSR Radials if they make it in your size. I have had 2 sets... will never own anything else. They run as quite as a BFG mud..... but they are bad ass.

friend of mine just replaced his truxxis m/t's with the kevlars, and couldnt say enough good stuff about them.
so far snow, street and a little mud. he was very impressed

I just ordered some of these Xtreme MTs. I'll throw in my 2 cents in a few days ;)

I had the pro comps on my rig for a while and they did wear faster than BFG's....

And they sucked in snow, even they had some sipping in them:poo:

my buddy had cooper stt's on his sierra hd2500 with 8.1 bb, running basically highway/dirt road mix......gone in 25 000 miles. His dad, same tires, V10 Excursion, towing almost every day, mostly highway, 30 000 miles..... E rated tires!!!

I've had the Pro-Comp mud terrains on my CJ-5, very good traction wise, but the side walls cut easily! I cut 2 of them wide open, and that was under the wieght of a CJ.
I ran the Pro-Comp Extreme's on my 2002 Avalanche, 33x12.50/15's, and they were wore out at 15-18,000 miles. That was alot of street use though. They "cup" very easily and quickly.

Eeek. Hope you like them. After reading through these last posts my brother in law went through another set of procomps (4 wheel parts warranties his last set) and just replaced with Nittos after about 13000 miles. And its been about a year to the T, well actually 10.5 months.

Good luck
