The guy I bought this from got it from his dad, and dad got it new in 81. It has a drw 14 under it now because he blew the stock one{the blown one came with it}. I dont think i've ever seen a 3-3 cab 1-ton 4x4 before:doah:

Your in the Southwest and have never seen one before ? More than a handful out here being driven daily .

Even if it was rare , your supposed to cut up whole trucks here just for the front axle :wink1:

cut?

probably just the front fenders a little on this one.Darn thing is in clean still!

Um Pauly I wish this was the southwest. Central coast Ca. is cold, wind, and fog:eek1: lol .

all crew cabs were 1 tons from 76 or 78 (whenever they started using 60s)

Actually, all crewcabs, including the 2WD's, have the narrow, thicker frames and skinnier spring perch spacing, i.e. what we call one-tons.

The C/K-20 crewcabs I suspect were de-rated for emissions ratings, and of course the sixpack cab weighs a bit more so you had to put the really big brakes and springs onto a crewcab to make it have the same weight-carrying capability as a regular cab... i.e. the springs/brakes from a light-duty one-ton single cab would have been called a 3/4 if they were on a sixpack.

Well, that and the C/K-20's had vacuum brake boosters and not hydroboost.

Or WERE there K/20 crewcabs? (I know there were C/20 crewcabs, 'cuz mine started out life as one.)

have seen pre dana 60 crew cabs with d44 front but didn't notice anything else

I parted out an 82 4wd crew. Truck was rusted pretty good, but the 60 was immaculate. Also know where there is an 73 4wd crew 454 4 speed and 44 up front....

Chevy didn't start using dana 60 front ends till either 76 or 78, can't remember exactly so anything prior to that will be probably and external hub d44

2wd or 4wd?
Read his quote again.....it says "k20".

I've seen K20's in crew cab versions before. Made me do a double take when I saw the fender emblem and the front axle.

1977 was the first year of the K30 with D60 front axles.

k20 4x4, well actually a GMC 2500 or whatever. it just came with a ten bolt.

doh didn't even think of the K designation. Was that k20 crew cab have the 6" or 8" tall frame?

Guess I was close to the right year, just in the middle

Rare

Ok I guess not to rare. This truck is a 81 and has the 60 front:D. The price was REALLY good, and i think we are going to play with it as is for now.
Just got it home sooooo. Stupid poser pics:haha::haha:
