Project "Blazer". Won 3rd place, this thread is done!

Well I got home from work real later. But my single wheel hubs came today. Was going to wait to toss them on till I got a locker for the front, but don't know if I can wait that long. I got bored and ordered the locker for the rear. So then I can go get the other carrier and gears to put in the 14b.

So the only thing I did today was put the trucks wieght onto the 60, to see were the axel was going to sit. I think I'm going to push it back a 1/2". Then I took a pic of how nice the rims (that Rich wants) look on the truck. :D:D

Got all the new u-bolts made for it today, but It is rainning like a mother, so didn't get them on.

Figured that (after I bought a street biketoday)since the cash is getting low, I would toss the truck together with what I have for now. There is a mudbog at the end of the month, and I want to play. So I'm going to wait on the front locker for now, toss it together, and just buy the parts to make it go, steer, and stop. It might not be on the road by then, but It will be nice to have it going.

I have to pick up a 2x4 steering box & I have no pump. Then make the crossover parts and toss it together. Next will be the new brake lines after I buy 2 new calipers and all new pads. That would make the steering and braking good for now. The rad. has a whole in it, so I'll see if any of my friends has one kickin around.Oh yea and need to make bumpers so I can get pulled out. then just minor stuff. After alittle fun I can start to make it streetable.

Today I got my power steering pump, 2x4 gearbox, and the rear 4.56 carrier. I put some u-bolts on the rear, put the pump and steering box on,the Xj shalft on, them it got dark, bla.

The crappy part is when I pulled the carrier out of the donor. The two sides of the carrier were welded together!?!?! Why I don't know. It still worked as a open diff. So I'll need to cut the welds to get the locker in, and hope there isn't a problem with it.

Got the pass side SRW hub on. Then my shims came in the mail. So I set up the zero-rates to a 1/2" back, put the shims on, and jacked the 60 up to the springs.

if you were looking to have it centered, then it looks pretty good.
It just looks centered from that angle, it still sits foward, but the way I want it.

The 60 is bolted in! No more jackstands!:D I'm just happy to have it sitting on the ground. Got out of work late today, but like I said got the 60 in, cut the hole in the tunnel for the shifter, trimmed some fenders, and did alittle cleanup around the truck.

Well got the other front hub swapped, cut the stupid welds on the rear carrier, and installed the locker into the carrier. Hope to do the gear swap tomorrow. I also got 4 tires that hold air put onto rims, then on the K5. Some huge 245/70/16's LOL.

Well the 4.56's and locker are in the rear. I just need to get new bolts for the cover. I forgot the donor truck was a plow truck for 27 years. The cover is on with about 7 bolts for now.

Then I had to start it, since it was the first time it could power (move) itself. Went about 8 feet and remembered I have no steering or brakes. But she went nice, 245/70/16's and 4.56's, yea.

To do list
-brakes: 4 new calipers, pads and lines
-steering: getting all the crossover stuff next week
-front drive shaft: see if I have one that fits, if not make one
-Battery: buy a new one for the blue K5, then put the old into grey K5
-Bumpers: front-trading a stocker for a warn winch bumper (I have a 8000# warn)
Rear- make it
-rims: might have a free set of steel 16.5x12's coming, need to check next week

16.5x12. :eek1: I hope you are running a really wide tire. mine are that wide but they pair up nicely with my 44's. I have burped a bead though. running them in the rocks at 6 psi will do that.

The kid said he thought they were 12 wide, but he couldn't remember. They would be free. Weren't those turbines I had 12" wide? I'll be running my custom grovved tires.:D:bow:
