This is Part 1

(I got to post 4 more before I can post the utube link)

1982 K5 Blazer 6.2l Diesel 3.08 gears 31X10.5R15 baldies, owned for 4 days as of the posting of this video.

Tomorrow is Sunday... I go to get 2 Sunday newspapers so I can finish off masking and get the rest of the sand paint on. Then all the "chrome" stripes will be done in flat black.

The inside needs some more lovin, have not touched it since I started painting the outside. Which is good, while I work on another part, I can rehearse in my head how Im going to patch up the inside.

Ill post more as I can.

Wish me luck... I need it. :-(

(sore, tired, my shoulder that had surgery is hurting... and Im sunburt too)

Im tired. Im going to bed. Just as soon as I post this video link.

I worked HARD to get as much done as I did, and I really hope an admin or mod doesnt get upset that I "cheated" the post a bit, but Id really like to share my youtube vid before I snooze.

Andrew

I dont know if this forum allows youtube embed or not, but Im going to try to embed it with the standard forum tags. If not, Ill still have the URL.

If you will, click the URL and watch it at youtube in HD.

I shot it with a Flip UltraHD, edited it with AVS4YOU Video editor 4, it imports the MP4 videos great, and is a super simple, but great quality video editor.

So, without getting banned for "pseudo spamming" so I can post the link (I hope anyway!), HERE is the video...

I got a LOT of work to be done, but the cool thing is, my daughter (13 years) is totally STOKED to get the war wagon project finished!!!

Ill post more later... My shoulder is killing me and Im waiting for the Lortab to take root. I had rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago, Im probably doing way more than Im supposed to, but I gotta get this truck finished before I go back to work because I know I wont have the free time to do %hit after that!

Wish me luck!

Thanks for viewing,
Andrew

Did you get the rear corners done yet? If so how do you like it with the pop rivets? I was contemplating that myself since mine is rusty in the same place.

Im not laughing over here, Recon. <g>. I found more holes.

I haven't plugged the first hole yet, as I bounce around and fiddle with different aspects and projects on it, I am meditating on how Im going to approach other parts of the project. Im sure the pop rivits will do as I want, just contiplating how how it will be best.

Ive got more vid to post in another day or two.

Work I got done today: Front tires off, rims cleaned and ground, masked and painted black... Center caps and beauty rings laid to the side. Result: Looks awesome (you will see in the vid).

Also: Pulled all trim and molding from front, discarded nasty-as-hell headliner. Pulled sunvisors, cleaned and replaced sunvisors. All trim left OUT and set to the side, most likely wont go back in.. "Plain Jane" cab will do just fine.

Also: Pulled center console to prep for cleaning of console, and removal of "carpet", or what ever that nasty-as-hell stuff is on the floor <g>.

Also: Pulled edging off very rear of Blazer, which held the carpet down right where the tailgate shuts. Hidden treasures of brown crusty love was revealed. Im stoked to see all this extra work! :haha:

Tomorow's to-do: Do the two back rims. Pull front seats and carpet, do a visual. Also: Scrape rear with putty knife to get all the rest-glued insulation off and gone. Also: grab some .99 cent cans of flat black and shoot all the dirt, mud and rust in the fender skirts so it "looks" better. (Hell, might even run better, never know!)

Ive *GOT* to get the back patched up and bedlinered (<- I made a new word!!) so I can put the seat back in and be 90% done!!

More vid coming soon!!

Cheers,
Andrew

A good way to seal up your patches that make them extra strong at the same time after you rivet them is to use JB Weld to seal it. Place the patch panel in place, drill the rivet holes, remove panel, apply JB Weld, replace panel and rivet. Bam, strong, and hopefully sealed up. If it's not sealed after that, put some silicone on it.

My first sentence is retarded.

Nobody is gonna bite ya for "pseudo spamming" in order to put up vids or pics. That whole limitation is the first line of defense here against spam 'bots'. Real humans we have very little trouble with.

So, welcome to CK5! :waytogo:

Pop rivets...:doah: I know sometimes reality sucks when it comes to tools, skills, time, money etc but you really won't be doing your truck any favors. Spend a bit of time looking around, there are a few of us dealing with the exact same rust issues right now (myself included). search for Project Sanity, or look in the body shop forum for a thread titled "Holy Rust!".

Stuff I got done today: (Shot a little progress vid, will post soon)

* Finished back rims and looks SHARP
* Flat black inside 3 of the 4 fender wells
* Removed 5 inch tall molding on tailgate (says "Chevrolet" on it)
* Washed, sanded and painted newly exposed area on tailgate
* Pulled center console for hard core scrubing
* Started painting the roof
* got all the sand/tan paint on the back that is needed
* Painted right side 2 inch molding that runs along truck

Tomorrow I hope to:
* Paint rear bumper, tow hitch and 2 inch molding all around up until front tires.
* Scrub center console
* Paint last fender well
* Finish last can of sand/tan paint on roof
* pull wiper arms and cowl

Damn this thing is a lot of work, and I still havent gotten started FIXING the INSIDE yet. However, seeing the outside come together stokes me up to get the inside done now!

I want to drive this thing!!!

Andrew

Very cool, can't wait to see the newest vid.

Did I hear you say you bought the truck in Bedford? As in Bedford, TX?

Plans (After the outside is painted and the inside is fully repaired)

Suspension: Leave as-is. Currently is stock wtih 3" blocks all the way around. Ill be dropping the sway bar mount by 3" as soon as I can fab up a spacer.

Audio: Who cares, its a WarWagon. Might build a speaker box and toss in a $100 WallyWorld special.

Rims: I just redid them!

Tires: New econo-meat, same size (31X10.5R15). Too small? Well, this is primarily my daily driver so Im trying to keep the MPG as good as I can.

Seats: Front seats will get custom fit covers from the world famous JCWhitney. :-)

Other than that, the truck will be finished.

I would strongly, strongly suggest swapping the front blocks out for some 2 inch lift springs and maybe a set of zero rates(www.offroaddesign.com or www.diy4.com).

Front blocks are NOT good. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techarticles/suspension/131_0708_4x4_front_lift_blocks/index.html

just google "front lift blocks" for more info.

The rear blocks are ok if this is not gonna be wheeled hard(Lots of newer trucks have short rear blocks from the factory), just be wary if rear wheel hop and axle wrap try to spit one out.
