Project Eat Soot

That's a great deal for the body work and not to mention fast too!

Looks sweet! You want to polish my wheels next? My welds won't ever look that good either!

Your truck looks incredible :waytogo::waytogo::waytogo:

IMHO you may have gotten as close as anyone else to "first gen perfection". Perfect size, not too big not too small, modified but not too much, classic looks and Cummins power, every aspect just "works" ..............I absolutely love it :bow:

It may in fact be a "left nut rig" now, as in I would give mine to own it :haha:

Awesome job on the whole thing, really, be proud of what you've built !!!! :pimp: :waytogo:

Thank you guys for the "prouds" ha.....Spent way too much money on ginger bread crap on Friday...Full LED lights, grille and pretty much everthing else besides bumpers...which will be soon. I took the turd out yesterday and put about 100 miles on it everything worked perfect...cruised on the freeway at 65 with no problems or vibrations...I was nervous about not having a cage at freeway speeds. The whole time I was going over in my head if I tightening everything..did put all cotter pins in..lol so I was tweeking a little...but it all held together...need to finish exhaust. I'm going to "Y" it after the transfer case and run dual 3" and do a Camaro dump right behind the rear tire with 4" tips...should look great....on with progress pics.

Looks awesome, ES.

So, now that I've seen the pics and really like the look of the cowl, where did you get it? How did it fit? Is that the 2"?

I spent the better part of Sunday morning going through old threads looking at the cowl hoods. I just never liked the (FHS) floppy hood syndrome that our rigs came with. With the nasty fall that mine went through a month ago, I need to fix that, reinforce the skin for the FHS and so on.

It might be time to just get a cowl hood, because the do look pretty bad ass on these. :waytogo:

lol, glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have a tendency to get into my own head a bit and start worrying that the whole thing is just gonna fall apart on me.

I had a camaro for years that had a pretty big scoop on it so I've kinda gotten to where I don't like them anymore, but I think the one he's got looks fantastic. :thumb:

Looks gorgeous man:bow:

If I hadn't fallen into such a smoking deal on my new hood I would have a cowl already. But I think it'll end up that way sooner or later...

Wow, your truck is awesome! I'm truly jealous (and I can tell I'm not the only one on here who is...)

Be real careful with the exhaust placement if you have the top off. I had mine in three different configurations before I got it working ok. The worst was straight out the back. It would choke me so bad I'd be dizzy after 30 minutes of driving on the freeway because the fumes would recirculate back into the cab.

Aiming it out the side at an angle and down toward the ground a bit seems to be the best out of the three I had.

Thank you all! I got the hood from Chevy Metal, it's a 2" cowl Tri-Plus if I remember right. I knew from the day I brought the Blazer home it was going to have that hood. I love the look of it sitting behind it in the seat. They are pricey but worth it!

BP71k5- well with your all the combinations you have tried sounds like what I'm going to do will work out perfect. Thanks for the heads up!

Hello all! It's been awhile I have been slowly putting this thing back together. I have put quite a few miles on her so far so good. Father's day brought me rear seat belts so the kids can ride along now. It's funny how the kids just love riding in the turd. I took it to a car show yesterday for a bit. Here are a some pics of current status. I also have been working on my buddies 71 Jimmy as of late...pretty clean ride also.

Oh and one other thing. The buddy that got the 71 Jimmy picked this 1987 Chevy Silverado up for next to nothing. I need to get it in my hands!
Beautiful truck full options. Keeping my fingers crossed!

One of the best comments I heard yesterday at the car show was: Why in the hell would you ruin it with a diesel!....so funny! He didnt know I owned it I just said yeah no doubt! Ha

Made a little more progress in the last month. Finally got a rear bumper and finished up the exhaust last Friday. Took it to a couple cruises this weekend had a great time.

Wow I love this rig

Awesome to see you out enjoying such a cool truck :thumb:
