Project Eat Soot

Love a first gen with the top on...it just looks better to me. Restored top on the "Turd". Although it is hard to beat in the summer with it off! Couple pics. My good friend and I brought home another first gen... a 69 that is a rolling chassis, powder coated frame and all the body work is done. We are going to install a 4.8 Vortec out of a 2007 Silverado. The pic is when we picked everthing up. Also one pic of this past weekend stopped by Chevy Metal to pic up some interior parts.

One of the main reasons that I built my cage to fit the top. They sure do look good with them on. :waytogo:

Looks great man. Be cool to see another build too.

Yo! Finally got going on the 69. Got it to my shop and dropped the LS in. I'm doing this for a buddy of mine. He bought the Dirty Dingo crossmember which is a really nice piece and makes the swap easy with the adjustable mounts you can just move it forward or back to retain the factory transmission crossmember.....almost too easy.

Yes, I do eventually want to put a cooler on it. Just been working on the 69 LS swap have no time for mine at this point.

Well I have made some more progress on my buddies 69, lots of work still to go but getting closer to firing her off. I didn't take alot of pics just going to town on this one. I threw on a 2" lift, tires and wheels...looks damn good now. Went to put new rotors, brakes, hubs and bearings this weekend and hit a block wall with the spindles....they are toast! All in all it's a fun project. few general pics.

.......Then yesterday I brought home my new project. I have always wanted a square body crew cab, so the hunt was on. I looked for awhile for a 4wd but the majority of them are beat to hell. I found this 86 2wd C30 totally stock beautiful truck....2 owner truck 454, Th400 just going to clean it up for now. It is going to detail shop tomorrow to get buffed and waxed. I will put up a new pic after thats done. Not sure what to do yet with this as far as 4WD conversion goes. I know a can modify the frame it has or wait around for a donor frame. I would like to put a diesel in also but the last one kicked my ass ha!...so any ideas on those two issues? LS 6.0 or Diesel?? I called around yesterday to get some pricing on a Duramax Allison setup.....ahhh those arent cheap. $4500 for both. That's what I want to put in it but don't think it's worth it. I can buy alot of gas for $4500 as much as I will drive it. Mainly for towing travel trailer and getting firewood. ok shut up on with pics.

Where are you finding Duramax/Allison combos for $4500??? Everything I've seen is closer to $7-8k for just the engine.
