A Little Background:

After moving through 3 or 4 rigs over the last 8 years or so, ranging from dedicated crawlers to more weekend warrior type rigs I wanted to try and build an expedition style rig to bridge both worlds. My last Rig was a Grand Cherokee it was a beast on the trail but was a trailer only. With 3 little ones and running my own construction company its hard to find the time to hook up and travel to wheel so I want something that I can jump in and go.

Some of you may have seen my Grand at Rausch before:

After looking at lots of different rigs I knew I wanted to get back into a chevy and i needed seating for 5. I also wanted the comfort of a newer style rig and I have always liked the 2 door Tahoes and NBS Blazers so the hunt began.

I ended up finding a 94 TBI 350, 4l60, Np241 about 5 minutes from my house and picked it up for deal. It was rough around the edges, missing the front bumper and one of the mirrors and had about 1000lbs of mud on the undercarriage but fairly straight and rust free.

And i'm a dumb ass who sucks at taking pictures so i don't have any of when i drove it home:doah:

Once I got it home I tore out all the IFS Crap and sold it with the rear for $500.

Here's where the magic happens:

And like I said I suck at pictures but here are the specs and a few pics of it as it sits currently and i'm going to try and update as I build bumpers and body protection, and get the suspension dialed in.

First run under it own power:

Here's my son working on his ride while I swapped the new meats onto the blazer:

And one of the first trip to the gas station:

I'm going to snap a few detailed suspension pics tomorrow and try and get them up here

Let me know what you think!

nice looking truck man, ive always liked the GMT400 blazers. how's it drive on the road with 52s up front?

Thanks for the kind words guys :thumb:

It's coming together well, the 52s are soft but i have plans for sway bars and i don't have the rear shocks mounted yet so it's hard to tell how much of the soft feel is coming from the back. It rained it's ass off today so no pics but tomorrows supposed to be nice so i'm hoping to get the rear shock mounts welded and painted tomorrow night so hopefully i'll get a better feel for how it drives Tuesday or Wednesday.

Very nice, were running very similar setups! What is the wheelbase of the GMT400 2-boor blazers?
The SYE and rear CV shaft is one of the next things on my list for upgrades.

Looks good!!!:waytogo:

I have been entertaining the same idea for myself for a while. Sub'd for future ideas.

Thanks man! From the factory they have a 111.5" wheelbase, mine is stretched to 117 or so...

Like I said I'm no good at keeping these threads up to date, Since i last updated i've gone to Rausch once and added sliders bump stops limit straps and some lights and other misc things that needed done but other than that its been sitting. Between work and family stuff i've barely touched it this summer but i'm trying to buy 6 acres right now so hopefully I can start doing some wheeling on my own property soon... anyway onto the good stuff-- Rausch Pics:
