did you scuff up the paint or primer on the floor or did you just roll it on? how much herc did it take to do the floor?

Yep I scuffed it real well, I even ground down all the rust to the metal. It took about 2/3 of a can. It may be hard to tell in my pictures But I did the whole floor, up the firewall as far as I could go and half up the back wall to the line. I applied 2 thick coats as well. Im saving the rest for when i get doors and they will be getting a full coat on the inside so im guessing that I will use the rest of the can for that.

Im thinking I might, but I will need another can for sure. they are about $160 per can here in alberta. Im probably not going to under the hood.

i thought about having my k10 line x'ed but after i realized how much work it would be to tear everything apart and how bad of shape my truck is already in, i don't think im going to do it unless i find a rust free cab and bed thats never been hacked on

lately I have finished drilling and tapping some better vent lines into my tranny and transfer case. I cleaned them out real well inside and out and put on new seals and gaskets. then I splashed a coat of orange on them just becasue i felt like it (and yes I know there is overspray on the bellhousing, i still need to polish it). unfortunately I am going to have to put my plans for a doubler on hold until next year as I want this truck driveable by may long weekend. and I have a huge list of expensive parts.

I now have my 1 ton diffs in.
the rear diff needs to be cleaned up and im taking out the lincoln locker and putting in a yukon spool. I also need to put in new calipers from an older caddy so I can have rear park brake. (right now I have 3/4 ton front calipers in there)

I still plan to rebuild the front diff with chromos and 35 slpine shafts.
the crossover and hyd assist steering is all done and in

Put in a "newer steering wheel

When I switched to the older frame, I needed to bend up new brake lines. I finally got that done (lol, more yellow overspray)

Heres a rollbar I got for the back. needs some paint. I plan on tieing it into the frame to protect the passengers in the box (I plan on mounting the seat as well) I also will get a cage built in the cab.

Heres a warn 12000 and a warn 8000. I plan on putting the 12000 on the front bumper and mount the rear on a portable plate to put in my hitch receiver. but im a little bit concerned about the 8000lb winch. will it be strong enough to pull my truck out backwards with a snatch block? im not sure how much a 85 shortbox weighs. And I also would like to get a new cable for the small winch.

heres a toolbox that I will use for my spare parts, tools, straps, gear, etc.

my dual electric fans

And the old wiring. Im going to get a painless chasis harness but im going to use a remote location for the fuse block and wire it all into a switch panel. I love wiring!

couple questions for ya.

why bother removing the welded spiders for a spool? the steering dampner axle mount is pretty weak for a hydro assit mount, everyone usually builds a new one. i'm sure the roll bar will be better then nothing, but have you seen how thin the steel is on them?

.....and I have a couple of answers for you!
First of all I dont really want to admit it, but I screwed up bad when I welded up the rear. and ended up warping the carrier or something because my gear contact pattern is VERY uneven and off, so Im just going to do it "proplery" and get a spool. secondly, thanks for the info on the bracket. thats how it was when I purchased the axle, but Ill change it when I move the truck to my parents place for the winter. I dont have a welder, heater or anythin in my garage, so ill mooch off my dad this winter. and lastly, im mounting the seat with the back towards the cab (so you will be facing backwards) and I figured with the combined strength of the rollbar, truck cab and the cage in the cab (im letting the pros do that one), it should be pretty safe. the only reason for the seat is so i can take a few more buddies when i hit the trails. The usual trails that I run could only put your truck on its side if you are doing some crazy driving. It would be pretty damn hard to roll it. I plan on entering competitions and such next year with my truck and thats the reason for the cage. Im sure ill be pretty smart about the whole thing and would never do any sort of crazy wheeling with someone sitting in the back.

EDIT:
I AM CHANGING MY ACCOUNT TO K10 KRAWLER

I cant wait either, lol! But no, its not twin sticked, I wish it was but I will do that next winter when I pull it all out again to put on the doubler. Im trying to keep things basic for now and get the truck in a driveable state, after then ill start to put on the fancy stuff.

So I have had a bit of progress lately, first of all I got the
ORD 1'' body lift in, But im still deciding If I want to keep my box
I also trimmed the driverside rusty fender to get an idea on what Im in for

My First question is the famous ''Is my shackle angle to high?'' I have not moved my front mount forward at all, but I did move my rear hangar as far back as i could, (im using 63'' springs with an ez inch from DIY4X) Do I really need to move it forward?

I also got the ord steering box brace in and a fuel injected 350 out of a 93 gmc. no rebuild quite yet, I need to get everyhting wired in and running before I start thinking of that.

i dont know anything about shackle angles but looks kinda steep, nice progress that bed sure looks like quite the project!

is that with the truck loaded down? it looks good as is, that will give decent uptravel and hella droop.

unfortunately no, its not quite loaded down, but im tearing a bunch of the box out, so with that weight lost, im hoping for the same amount of weight. as long as it will work good, ill be happy!

So the time has come! my harness is here and im starting my long trek of wiring the whole truck. the idea of the gray enclosure is to put my ignition, fuse block and relays inside to keep them dry.

nice set of goodies, you addin a trans temp gauge and if so can you post up some good stuff on the install? i got me a new one a couple of months back and have yet to put the thin in yet and could use a tagalong to help instruct me:D

Im using a manual trans, so I dont see myself needing a tranny temp gauge but if im correct you put the sensor inline with one of your cooler lines

and on another note, I finished my panel today and started to wire up the rest of the truck
