Project Grade 8. 11/12/08

Are you gonna get the axle housings powdercoated Kert? I know Jim has the capabilities where he works. He told me one time he could get anything up to the size of a long box frame in there.

I have powder coated axles in the past and wasn't happy with the outcome. There are some areas on the axles that are pretty much impossible to get the grease out of and then when you bake the powder it comes back to haunt you.

Mikey, Not quite yet but its getting close.

have you tried pre-baking to give oils and grease a chance to work their way out before powder coating?

We did but never seemed to stop oozing. In the end we got it coated good and it looked good, just don't think I'd do it again.

Well I was working on getting my 80 shortbox ready for a build, now I am eagerly waitin to see how this goes. I did get the seat re-done though.

Whats with the round tube things on the shackles?

yes yes yes. :wink1:

Ah good deal. Is there a chance in hell mr. diy4x would actually leave a rig 1/2 or 3/4 ton? I'd love to see a low lift flexy thing with q75 tsls or whatever that size is (35/36x10 I think they come out to).

Which brings me to an offtopic question I'm gonna pm you about!
