Project: K5

Granted I have all brand new steering stuff, hydro assist, and a rebuilt box.....but I have no slop whatsoever. Before the hydro and rebuilt box, it was still tight. For the cost of new rag joint, you can junkyard search for an XJ shaft. 80s-early 90s, square body Cherokee's only, no Grands.
this is what you need:

Thanks for the pics, i will also check out that cap tomorrow.

Ill be hitting up the pull and pay in a week or 2. :)

Your doing some good things Brian. The black does look a ton better on the bottom. That hose is lookin rough up top like its rubbing. To keep the hood down you need to adjust the hook torward the hood to tighten up the gap. On the cd player it looks like the metal insert isn't locked in place on the dash. It should have metal tabs that need to be bent up to lock it in. The rag joint still looks like its holding alright on you steering shaft. The just look weird. If its starting to fray at the edges I'd rePlace it or the shaft with a xj one if you want to do the work.

When you say hook i take it you mean the latch that locks it into place right? the only thing that made me think that wasnt the problem was that the hood looks fine on the other side. its only on the drivers side where i have a issue, with the hose, yeah it looks a little smooth on the top like its rubbing. i think that may be the problem, gonna work on that today.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Yeah you may be able to take the bumper rubber thing and screw it into the core support a lil bit more on that side too. Does it stick up in the back by the windshield too? If it does the hood hinge may need adjusted as well. I was talking about the hood latch. Haha. Had a brain fart on what it was called there. That hose will eventually wear through if it keeps rubbing on the hood so I would definitely see what going on there.

Yep, screw the bumpstop in little by little until its flush, just did mine this weekend after setting a new hood on it.

If I paid the $$$ that you did from a dealership, I would have them fix any problems like that. It's not a hard fix, but if you have to get the correct hose, or flip it over or anything that will cause you spend more money than you already did :dunno:. Just seems like they should have to take care of the basic obvious stuff that should have been noticed before it ever hit the sales lot.

I'm not a big fan of dealerships anyway.

i agree, but it was an as is situation. plus my credit sucks so im also doing this to build it up, never owned a credit card or anything so my history is blank which is just as bad as having bad credit.

So im putting up with it since i wanted the truck so bad and i really need to work on fixing my credit.

Heres to hoping nothing expensive happens in the next year, heh.

Well at least you got something that you can have plenty of fun with and the upgrade possibilities are endless. Hopefully you can keep it around a long time.

If all goes to plan ill have it for many many years to come, i have 0 plans of getting rid of it anytime in my life.

Today was a day for redoing the top job that someone did with the stereo

First i removed the old amp they had under the drivers side seat..

All of the speakers, ground, power, everything was ran under the drivers side seat when the door/dash speakers should be running to the head unit..
So i had to remove the seat, pull up the carpet and run everything accordingly

Its all back together now along with my new amp + sub, pics of the sub will have to wait due to it getting dark right when i finished up.

Here are a few pics from the work.

Here is all the orig wires coming from under the passenger seat.

Wires ran accordingly..

For now the amp will remain under the seat, but with only the sub and ground, ect going into it like it should be.

And here is the sun setting over the hazey mountains. hehe

Looks like it's time to start an official build thread to document your progress. Not that I'm one to talk...I haven't started one yet for any of my rigs. But it is good to see where guys have come from with their rigs and get input from other members on your ideas.

Im planning on buying a membership once i get paid. :D

Edit: i stand corrected, looks like i can post their now.

So here is my 12 inch sub which is pretty large yet seemingly insignificant compared to the spare sitting next to it. :eek1:

That is your air conditioning compressor. You don't have to have a belt on it unless you want A/C. However, if you do put a belt on, you may realize that the PO disabled it for a reason....you might be looking at a few hundred bucks in A/C work. If it were me I'd wait until next summer to worry about it. I ran without my A/C compressor for 5 years until I had the $$ to get the rest of the system working right. The mechanical improvements were / are more important to spend my cash on.

As far as a build thread. Just look in the sub forum for build threads and read the sticky for some pointers.

Finally got this head unit installed correctly, took 3 days of messing with it during my lunch breaks at work, haha.

Nice and flush!

Just crawled under the truck to check out what type of muffler is on this thing, looks like 3 inch pipe front to back on a flo pro muffler and there is a cat.

Anyone ever heard of this brand? i havent.
