G'day all, I am back after 9 years. I guess all my old posts are gone to I am starting over. Posted on the welcome thread and just thought I would share the projects that just got dug out after 9 years.
I have an 84 K5 that has been hiding in the trees in MN. We hauled it out there long ago and when off loading it the darn thing went feral on us and jumped the blocks, ran over a bunch of saplings, and is hiding in the tree claim.
Well, we started digging out years of stored parts and here is what we came up with so far. We have a new 6" lift for it along with ORD greaseable bushings, stabilzer quick disconnect, steering gear reinforcement, etc. We also dug out a 9 year old fresh 14 bolt with a new Detroit locker in it and disc brakes. It also has an old Poison Spider truss bar and rear cover. I don't think they make this stuff anymore.
For front differential I am in a bit of a quandry. I have an empty housing, used knuckles, and all the new stuff to put it together except for ring and pinion, install kit, and a carrier of some sort. Things have changed a bunch since I dropped out so I am trying to decided on which carrier to use. Detroit, Ox Locker, Yukon Zip, ARB, electric. I just don't know and would appreciate any input. I do have a 60 already done with a trac lock but I don't know if that would be sufficient.
The truck will be mainly used for snow and winter driving in ND. It will see some mud and maybe a bit of rock. I would really appreciate any advice.
For transfercase I purchased a new 205 for T400 back at the beginning. I also have a new T400 adaptor and a massive selection of T400, T475, and even a couple of 4l80e trans. I am a packrat.
Engine is built but might be too much. It is an old school BBC that began life as an LS7 drag car engine. It is fresh but is over 12 to 1. Might have to back that down a bit. I have other less overkill engines that we could use I guess.
Anyway, advice on the Dana would be greatly appreciated as would advice on bolting a 4l80e to a 205.
Thanks all,
ms
