Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

Ya I'm not seeing anything that would make me want to change the timing case. I understand the ribbing is slightly different. I can see it. Not different enough for me to want to change it.

I better make sure the gear is timing though if that's the case. I'm going to pull out my service manual to confirm though.

Okay after a little bit of research it shows that the air compressor only needs to be timed for vibration cancelation. It's setting the compressor piston to chase #1 power stroke. It would operate fine in any position though.

Only logical reason I can think of by looking at the set procedure vs the engine at tdc. Because the 6B rotating assembly is so much lighter than the 10-15 litre engines this is usually on. Trying to minimize vibs.

My cover is 3/8" 6061 aluminum. It adds rigidity better than any stamped tin cover could. It needs a tiny bit of clearance grinding for the gear nut. But it's minor. Right where the mark is.

Also my 6C manual specifically states the air compressor does NOT have to be timed. Leads me to believe they are strictly trying to smooth engine vibrations in the smaller package of the 6B.

They probably do that to give customers options. If they hiring drivers, slap that thing in there. If they are driving, and could afford it, time it.

My B manual doesn't mention timing the compressor either. It just says install accessories. But granted both my B and C shop manuals are pretty old. Printed 1994.

Will 16.5 fit your truck? Do they even make a 16.5 with the metric bolt pattern?

20" = 508mm
395/85 = 4.647058823529412
395-4.647058823529412 = 390.3529411764706
390.3529411764706 x 2 = 780.7058823529412
780.7058823529412 + 508 = 1288.705882352941
1288.70mm=50.736etc inch

so basically a 51x15 tire. That is a big tire.

395 x .85 = 335.75
335.75 x 2 = 671.5
671.5 + 508 = 1179.5
1179.5mm = 46.43"

So a 46 x 15 tire. That is still a big tire.

Errrrr so what's all the stuff inside the [/S] hash marks ?!?

Yes it measures around 45.5 X 15.5 unmounted.

It is me showing my **** up
I typed it all out and posted before I realize I screwed up.

What load range are those? G?

I figure your truck can actually use those.
