Project Penny - All good things must come to an end

Updates..... take some video of that bitch. I wanna see that thing driving/wheeling.

Oh... I should mention, this thing has been running and driving with the dmax in it for a while now :P Actually about to haul it down to Las Vegas to run as a chase truck for 4502 (Ultra4 based out of Edmonton, AB that we ran at KOH this last winter) in the Vegas to Reno run. I'll then be running the Rubicon Trail before coming back home.

And yes -- A 2-dr Tahoe with a LB7 / ZF6 is lots of fun :pimp:

I bet!! Good job russ

Nice

See you there. Be prepared for your Northern ass to be HOT, Damn hot. Snakes ass in a wagon rut type hot.:haha:

When we did tech in 09' it was 120 in the parking lot. 6 hours in that and a guy wants to curl up and die.

It's been in the 90s here the last while, and humid, so I am not coming down from it being in the 30s. 120? Dang, I might melt :haha:

I need to get the AC hooked up in my truck this week, but I am not sure if it is going to happen...

Sweet, we need some more pics of the engine in there. Nice job man. :thumb:

And umm, yeah, a little? Spent like 4hrs with a grinder making them fit :doah:

:doah: Mine weren't that bad, mine took maybe 15 minutes to make them fit, although they took a couple hours to clearance them for turning with the stock inners.

So.....

I just did some wiring in exchange for a 3 link kit to go in up front. Also have a pneumatic sway bar disconnect in the works. And a new balanced center mount steering ram to replace the tie rod (keeping the crossover drag link though).

And the engine has to come out to fix a nasty coolant leak. And to put in a new engine cross member and fab new engine mounts. It may not go back in, if I can find an 06.5 - 09 LBZ or LMM

And I bought new 52" springs to go in out back to replace the majorly wore out / finished / cracked rear springs :woot:

But first, I have a 4x4 christmas toy run charity to attend on Dec 2nd. Truck must be done by mid January in time for KOH 2013

Would it be much harder to wire in a lbz or lmm instead of the lb7?

I heard that if you got a lb7 you can`t put a lly in it`s place.
Or has this all changed recently?

I know you are a master with this kind of thing...is it something only a few guys can do or is it not as imposable as people say it is.

I remember you saying it was easy to wire the lb7 in the hoe...I still think that is one of the coolest swaps out there. :waytogo:

Did you see your feature in petersons?

Uncanny similarities eh?! Not mine, but I have seen that one in person before! His is running a big block gas engine, and has a slightly different paint job. Can4x4 did want to hook up and do a feature on my truck, but I was down in the US racing V2R at the time so we couldn't hook up.

Wiring the LBZ or LMM is no more difficult than swapping in an LB7 when it comes to a stand alone swap like in my Tahoe.

That said, putting an LBZ into an LB7 truck isn't very easy. The problem is not so much with the wiring but the networking interface. The LBZ PCM can't communicate with other modules in the LB7 truck so you have to swap in all the LBZ modules, as well as the wiring to support them. That also means swapping the dash out, because the newer HVAC equipment doesn't fit in the older dash.

unbelievable. Just goes to show i didnt read the article... Just thumbed through it at the grocery store...

Russ if you plan on parting the lb7 I may need the FPR/cp3 from it. My truck started surging at idle. Actually get me a price of the whole engine...lol
