The plan:
Swap the '49 suburban body onto the shortbed frame, & Graft the pedals and steering column section of a 73-91 truck into the '49.

Parts for the build:
-2006 LQ4 6.0L
-TH400-NP205
-Dana60 front crossover steering
-14ff rear 4.10 detroit locker
-37" mtr's or 39.50 boggers

Very nice! We have 51 suburban at my house, my dad has been working on it forever, his went from 4x4 to 2x4 though.

Which motor is in that?

A very different project you have going there. Nice, very nice so keep the updates flowing!

Very cool :waytogo:, I actually passed a 55 (approx) Sub on the highway yesterday and right away was thinking how cool it would look lifted and riding on 40's. :D

Can't wait to see how the build goes, I am currently doing a 53 Willy's 2wd wagon body on a 62 4wd frame with all GM drivetrain for my dad.

this is gonna be sweet!
Is this getting a nice paint job or is it going to be pure trail beater?

Grafting the pedals and steering is not a problem. My Father-in-law is building a 49 chevy truck and he used the gas pedal from an 83. You should be able to mount the standard pedal for breaks and booster to the firewall with no problem. As far as sttering he used the origional column and a 2 weel drive c-10 steering box with no problems as well. I will take a few pics of that set up and let you know how he did that if you are intrested.
cool build
cheers
Matt

Here is a pic of his project, the fram is a 51 with an 83 steering box, and origional steering shaft connected

Oh, RYAN B.........rustbucket? C'mon now, I see trucks 40 years newer with 10x the rust around here :D:(

Dood, body swaps is the gheyness.Dont do it :surepal:

:haha:

I thought it was pretty sweet that your dad drove it out to Blazerfest last year no glass n all and camped in it :pimp:

Not sure what the body is, but this guy used to enter the mud bogs in NV. Had a pretty smokin 383 under the hood, 1 tons, coilovers all around!

Very cool project. I am sure it will turn out awesome!

There is a dude running around here with the panel version of that.. lifted 4x4. Kicks ass.

I love Suburbans, of all years :D

I've always wanted one. This will be cool to watch. BTW, the "rust bucket" body looks as good as my '76 does.

I want a stock looking one, 3/4 or one ton build, maybe even stock wheels with BFG's.

Pulling an old woody, like those classic suburban commercials when the 2000 model came out.

Rust bucket my ass...

...I like it. Especially the "executive seating" at the rear of the frame.
