Project Smoke Wagon

1984 GMC Jimmy 383 Stroker | SM466
Ive hit a point where I can’t really think of much else to do. I think it’s ready for some use at this point. I’ve been eyeballing some other projects pretty hard since I’ve slowed down on this.

Really wanting to pick up a 70’s shovelhead and make an old school lane splitter. If that happens I probably will be on hiatus from here for a while lol

We're boring already?

I’ve been looking for a shovel for a while. Nah, you guys ain’t boring. I ended up making a Facebook page:weapon9: just to find a damn motorcycle since craigslist is dead and everyone uses the FB marketplace now. So it’s been eating up my time searching for a bike. Would like to get one before I have to go back to work.

You’ve just been bitten by a another bug...
I had a 71 Challenger, then a 71 Chevelle all the while my Soft tail took up my Sunday mornings while my 70 Chevy C30 took me to work every day. The El Camino didn’t last too long but when I found my 69 K5 I knew it was time for maybe my last project...I suspect you will still work on the smoke wagon

Finally got around to looking into why this carburetor failed. Dismantled it almost entirely. Flip it over to get the tower off the throttle body and low and behold a crack through the throttle body. Right where a tower bolt is. I suspect the PO overtorqued this and cracked it.

Looking into a new throttle body for this is $200+ ad in the $50 rebuild kit and I’m at $250+ just to rebuild this thing. Not even sure I could resell it for that once it’s rebuilt and cleaned up. I am actually surprised I thought for sure it had a blown diaphragm. It was spraying fuel out in a 6ft stream before I took it off lol

Maybe it was having an identity crisis and identified as fuel injection
