Project Smoke Wagon

One spring is keeping the rod between the fork and the lever.
The other is keeping the fork forward, so the throwout bearing isn't riding on the pressure plate

I threw another spring under the dash to give the pedal a solid return. Very happy with the way it maneuvers. Sadly I won’t be getting the trans in tonight. Ran out of time and have to eat and get ready for bed.

Doesn’t help that I haven’t eaten today at all. I typically don’t eat much on the weekends where I’m wrenching.

I lost that under dash pedal in 98. Much better...

Sad part is that I’m finding out now after putting the trans in that a bellhousing bolt hole is stripped. Sounds like I’ll be taking the trans out and helicoiling all the holes on the bell housing and then reassembling. Unless someone else has any other ideas.

im thinking I can just get a self tapping 14mm bolt and run it in the bell housing. 14mm is .5512 so I’m thinking of just slamming that in. Talk me out of it if you think it’s a bad idea.

The time-sert tap is .5512 effectively making the hole 14mm to accept a 1/2 bolt with the thread insert.

Alright. I got a pretty good bandaid of a fix. When I got this trans and bell housing one of the bolts didn’t have a lock washer. Well by leaving off the lock washer that bolt tightened right up. Through on some red loctite and the trans is in place
