89 K5 37s H1s 465 swap 241c sye Tub swap rust free
Crossmember clearance. Stock manifold issues and don't use the old style truck clutch disk. 1.5" of the disk doesnt touch the flywheel if you do. Seen a lot of guys do it and also alot of disk failures eventually. Use the entire 6.0 truck clutch assembly and everything matches up perfect. No wallowing out bolt holes or trying to figure out dowel pins ect.

More progress. Speed engineering block hugger headers are going to work. There is some long tube ones from schoenfeld that work but are twice the price so these are good. Also donor truck throttle cable that everyone says works with no mods... Not really. Had to shorten mounting bracket to get slack out of cable at throttle body end and then added a ferrel to the gas pedal end of the cable due to not opening the throttle 100% when on the floor. Had to bend and modify dipstick tube and mounting bracket. Will get a proper spacer (not leaving the nut and washer there). Added a fuel pressure gauge. One thing that sucks about modern engines is it's hard to tell if you are getting fuel. With the gauge you can eliminate some of the mystery. (Not electrical side I know). Thought I would mention some of the small details that take up a lot of time that seem to never make it to any of the videos I have seen.

Kinda off subject but had to remove ductwork under the dash to fish the harness through the firewall so I can mount computer and fuse block behind the glove box. Found the blend door bracket broke again . Originally stole one off a parts truck since mine was broke. Gave it to my son as he has a 3d printer. Told him to make it stronger that's what it is shaped funny.

Very cool rig. Never noticed this thread till today.

Do you ever air down your tires?

Thanks. I assume you are asking about the run flats? If so I took those out. The spare still has one though. I left it in the spare so when I have to lift it up to put on the rack I can throw out my back and crap my pants at the same time.

I was just curious if you ever thought about running different wheels. I always thought the H1 wheels were cool, until I got some. They still look cool to me, but I would not run them on anything unless I was using their ability to air down. Way too heavy! Do yours hold air pretty well?

They are very heavy. I bought the tires new off eBay and they are getting pretty worn now. I replaced the orings in the wheels when I first mounted them and balanced with airsoft BBs. I haven't had any leaks and have run them on the highway for several hours without issue. After the LS swap is done and trustworthy I am hoping to put new tires on it along with some 17s. The 16.5s are hard to find and the military ones I have seen are getting pretty old.

Was looking for a way to mount the computer. Couldn't really find one. If there is a better one please speak up. There isn't a lot of room with all the AC ductwork and linkages. This is what I came up with so far. Fuse and relay block will mount facing down so I can see it laying on the passenger floor with the door open. ALDL will go under ash tray I think. Glove box will be functional and "fixed" so it looks good when opened. And the half round plastic piece that covers the foot vent thing will be modified and will cover 90% of the bracket.

TBI truck computers hang from the underside of the dash shell somewhat above the glove box. There are threaded brackets there that you could easily make a plate etc to attach your computer to the dash.

I was in the garage with the doors open since it was nice out working on my junk, I kept hearing these ravens squawking like crazy. We have a owls nest in one of our trees. Well late in the evening neighbor found the baby owl laying in the street. The Mom was fighting the ravens off all day and I think they pulled him out. So made him a nest and contacted DNR and found a refuge place that'll take him in the morning. Left him out till 10pm hoping Mom would come get him. But no luck. He won't make the night around here so brought him in the garage and gave him some raw chicken.

Ended up taking him to a rescue nearby. They contacted us saying he has a broken leg in multiple places. Guess we took him to the right place . They are taking donations for the surgery that happens today. rescuereleaserepeat.com if you are so inclined.
