It is not a k5 but a short box. This winter I plan on chopping the roof and a full cage. In short truggy:D. My question is what to do with the cab mounts once the rockers have been tied into the frame and cage. Leave the bushings or hook it solid?

Is the cage also being tied to the body or just passing through? Sliders being attached to the body as well?

Sliders will be where the rocker is now and hooked to the frame and the cage tied to the frame/sliders. With everything tied together should eliminate body roll. Thinking about DIY frame boxing kit, would save a bit of time even if I don't use it all. Plan on tube frame behind the rear spring front hanger and use the just the bed sides and make custom floor. Want to make it a four seater if possible.

I just left my bushings in but they serve no purpose.

I essentially did the same thing you are talking about but I built a cage to fit inside the cab and then cut the cab down to where it was nothing but a floor and firewall. then I mounted the cage to the frame and welded the floor and firewall to the cab to make it all one piece.

Building it the way I did you cant expect the floor to support any kind of weight. The cage and sliders are completely supported by the frame so I didnt find any reason to mess with the factory mounts.

I cut out a few of my bushings but most of them are there still.

I have no engine cage yet so I still use the fronts.

If you are going this far with it you should boatside it, one of the absolute best things I have done to my rig.

When I build an engine cage the only body bushings I will have left are the ones for the cab, they are never coming off because the cab is no longer removable

BTW mine is truck based too.

Yah with everything tied together like that you pretty much eliminate frame flex
