Whats wrong with an electric fan? I run dual 13" fans, and I love them. I can turn them on or off manually, as well as run them fully auto controlled by a temp switch. I only crossed water occasionally as well, and no deeper than my bottom headlights, but it was enough to totally trash my flex fan, as well as almost a rad. A clutch fan isnt nearly as bad, it should stop if the water hits it, but I wasnt going to count on that.
Also, I put the dielectric grease in every plug boot, at both ends, and I used vaseline around the base of the distributer. Its oil based so it wont dissolve in water, also wont seal the distributer so tight that it cant vent if necessary. And you can remove the cap with a minimum of headaches.
Liek was previously said, make sure your diffs, t-case, and tranny (if needed) are vented up high. And your air intake has to be above the deepest level of water you may encounter. You will have to recheck your hubs and bearings after your trip, to make sure if any water did get in, it is removed before it causes trouble. Also, I always grease my joints, (u-joints, ball joints, tie rods etc) before the trip. If its full of grease, there is no room for water.
As for interior, if you cant totally keep water out, the next step is to make sure it can drain out. Same goes for electronics. Turn them off before they get wet, then let them dry totally before you turn them on again.
Guess thats about all I can think of right now. Our snow is almost gone so Im starting to think about the mud and water wheeling already. I cant wait!
Later
