My power steering pump is leaking, I thought it was the gearbox but after I wiped everything off it appears to be where the pump and resevoir are joined. A pump/resevoir from napa is about $70, autozone is $63. I noticed napa has a seal kit for $6, has anybody ever resealed a pump/resevoir before. I verified it is not coming from the lines/fittings, but down the front, maybe from the pully shaft seal I guess. (the kit has 3 o-rings/seal/and some gaskets in it) Are they easy to seperate (pump/resevoir)?

How about this, I've heard tranny fluid (type F) will stop the leak, how much should I add? If I have to take the damn thing off, I might as well put one on with a warranty.

The reservoir is sealed to the pump with a big o-ring. It doesn't look too hard to fix. I would avoid using something to swell the seal, the leak will come back. Fix it right.

Don't mess with the seal kit, very hard to get it not to leak. Just pay the money for a reman pump. You should get a lifetime warrenty with the pump not with the kit.

not the trans fluid, but brake fluid,,,small amount, like a capfull or two.

i did this a few years ago, hasn't started leaking yet :D

TJ, I'll try the brake fluid, but will probably just replace the pump. Another question for you, how hard was it to install the loc-rite in your 10B front?

I think your can install the loc-rite with out pulling the carrier. Just need to pull the shafts

Mine was leaking, decided to try that stop leak power steering fluid myself, and it has been working for months so far.

I agree though that a reman pump is probably a better bet than rebuilding your own.

Got tired of chasing leaks on mine and man am I glad I just changed the whole pump. Quiet and clean.
