PSC reservoir mounting

Okay, I'll try this one more time in a different way...what does PSC stand for?

Smokinthehippies,

Thank you.

I never heard of them before and didn't understand why this swap seemed to be so difficult. Guess I'm old school and haven't kept up on new technology.

Thanks again, trukker1

Yeah basically people who want to retrofit hydroboost go with a company like psc to source new comprehensive kit that will work instead of trying to track down parts used.
I am lucky most of my trucks are hydroboost and I parted a few so I have parts to convert the one that is not

My '72 BB donor came with a reservoir mounted high up on the inner fender so I didn't even realize that WOULD have been an issue.

Good thing to know though.

"I'd rather be lucky than good any day!" :D

You can run hydroboost brakes with a standard power steering pump. I purchased the PSC setup just to upgrade. Hydrotech has a complete hydroboost setup.

I mounted mine to the alt bracket above the power steering pump. But that is on an LS swap motor

Core support next to radiator is where mine is going

Is your radiator on the firewall?
I am weird mine is on the core support
My bad. Didn't have my coffee yet... Meant to say core support not firewall . Should be easy to to mount there. I'm also using a modified stockish chrome pump housing with the reservoir on top and steel AN fitting welded on top where the cap goes. My only mistake is I did -8AN and it should be -10 or -12 so I may change that.

I have a 5.3 ls going in after I can find time..and some money to rebuild it.
Did you modify that bracket to make it work with the Reservoir?
No if I remember right I just drilled 2 hole and used Allen head bolt up from the bottom to match the bolt holes in the reservoir.

I am running a 2.75" Full Hydro kit from PSC on my 6.2 diesel with hydroboost. I have my reservoir mounted similar to Teck off of the Alternator bracket. I have the larger -10 or -12 feed hose because of the full hydro. I wanted a nice straight shot to the pump.

With Hydroboost you will need the reservoir with the extra return as you see above. You will also need the correct metric to JIC adapters to hook the pressure hoses to the Hydroboost unit. You can see those in the first pic. I also sent my Hydroboost unit out to Vanco to be ported so it would flow better. Some guys have issues with the hydroboost unit not flowing enough for full hydro. I am not sure if this is an issue for hydro assist or not.

I got the psc reservoir and high output pump.
I was going to send my unit to vanco but 425 is a bit pricey right now. Everything is stock so I figured I'd take a chance and get a rebuilt unit and try that for now.

How do you like the vanco porting? Can you tell a difference? I'm not running hydro assist or anything right now.

I unfortunately can't comment on a before and after on the Vanco porting. I sent mine out prior to putting the full hydro on. No one could give me a yes you need it or no you don't. What I was told is if you are on the brakes hard and trying to steer you will lose steering. Maybe not lose it completely but most of it. I did not want to take the chance. My truck is not completely finished yet but I have tried hard braking and turning at the same time and my 42s still steer effortlessly with the Vanco ported hydroboost. I was also told some hydroboost flow just fine and others need to be ported so it is worth a try before you port it especially if you are only planning on running hydro assist.

I have one mounted to the core support. Still haven't got the rig going yet but I noticed the lines are kinda tight. I'm concerned they will be getting pulled under flex conditions. I'm thinking making a bracket to bring it off the core support a few inches. Has anyone had this issue?

Yeah I've searched everything I possibly could about vanco porting and for some people they needed it and others not. I have a unit ready to ship to him incase I have problems.

So for those of you who welded a bracket for you're psc reservoir in you're engine bay, how safe is it? Any tips? Should I cover anything so sparks dont catch anything?
