pullin trucks

well last night i went to a local truck pull with one of my budies that pulls trucks. while i was there i started to notice what front ends and rear ends the trucks hade under them, it seemed that all of the 4 wheel drive super mod trucks were running closed knuckle dana 60's.

does anyone know why they run the closed knuckle version since its weaker than the open knuckle. just curious

Because they're cheaper?

Seems like I remember lots of people liking the Chevy IFS for truck pulling too because they can mess with the torsion bars or something and the Chevy IFS certainly isn't strong.

IMO its probably because truck pulling isn't necessarily all that hard on front ends.
