Purpose of a stinger?

BranndonC said:
thats what i thought, i'm just planning my front bumper, and most stingers look out of place to me. So i'm just trying to see if I can find a good enough reason to put one on

if one has to go looking for a good reason, there probably isn't one. ;)

And of course the comp guys sometimes use them with spotter ropes to help manipulate the vehicles with added leverage.

Thats all I thought they were for.

One of my theories is that some fabbers want to show how far they can bend tube and whats funny is they get people to mount them on their rigs. Maybe its like the little guy with the huge lift on his truck, overcompensation for something? I just think they are a dorky (literally) version of a prerunner lightbar/grille guard.

there was a vid floating around a couple years ago, of a guy rolling a wagoneer i belive. that vid basically showed what the stinger is for, the hood of the waggy didnt get touched. the truck just rocked side to side upside down on the stinger and the roof....

i think the real huge ones are hideous, and a little over kill... if i was to make one, it would be just high enough to stick over my hood. and try to keep it from sticking out 6 feet off the front of my truck...

Mine might be small:( but I have had plenty of compliments:laugh: It is really nice to rest against when doing motor work (You stand on the winch mount and lean back onto the stinger)
