So with a isolator how do you wire it. and does it just work off of a switch or something?

I do already have a deep-cycle battery in my truck.

With an isolator, you'd want the deep-cycle as the auxiliary.

Do a google seach for battery isolators; some are as simple as a big honking relay (solenoid); others are solid state (really big diodes), and the fancy ones are painfully expensive and complicated (I've never used anything but the solenoid and diode variety :deal: )

This is about the point where i get lost, I took a class a couple years back trying to learn digital electronics it talked about diodes amd i failed the class

but i think i understand it

First: Nice truck!
"Retro" is ok...not my thing, but when done correctly it can be cool. Starting with a clean rig like yours is a good start!

Some retro look is very nice. I don't think your truck will look good with too much bling/lights. Your truck is a rare clean looking gem that can be a great go and show truck if you want.

Each person's taste is different. Do what floats your boat and by all means, stop with too many lights:haha: Throw on there what you like. It will give us something to make fun of, I mean to admire.

you really think the lights will kill it huh? I aint really sure if i am gonna do that many lights i may just do 1 set.

but the alternator was something that needs to be done regardless of what i do for lighting it has trouble with the stock stuff.

this look a little better

You decide what YOU like best ... do you drive in the fog and find that you can't see the sides of the road? Then get foglights.

Do you drive at night and can't see past the headlights? Then do the relay and re-wiring upgrade, and then maybe do the halogen thing after that.

Err, I mean add auxiliary driving lights :haha:

I'm big on lights, brakes, steering ... safety stuff. I'm careful with 'em ... don't use the lights to blind oncoming drivers (unless they're my friends! :haha: ), etc ... but used intelligently, it's much easier to have too little light than not enough :D

And sorry about adding another confusing factor about the relay/re-wiring thing ... but it's a CHEAP way to get more brightness out of your existing lights :deal:

I will look that tomorrow my eyes are pretty sore, ive been driving around doing stuff since about 7 am to about 3 hours ago.

Well thanks for all the Help and opions everyone.

I aint sure what I gonna do for lights but i will figure it out.

and the alternator is gonna be my next investment. and we will go from there.

well, I just wanted to share with everyone whats going with this.

I got a 93 amp alternator for a caddy,I had it tested and its putting out 86 amps.

Dual batteries probaly before this winter

And Lights well, Its gonna the retangular Hella's

and if i need more lighting if found some cheap lights that are small enough to mount to the bottom of the pushbar(level with frame) that would hardly show. I found em because a set of those are gonna be my reverse lights

I am still trying to figure out some sorta switch panel, that would look like a really clean install. I know I also Wanna run L.E.D's also

any ideas?
