The well plugs leak fuel after a while ,right into the intake, creating smoke at startup , could be thousands of miles , could be hundreds before it happens .
When you buy one from a reputable carb shop , those well plugs are epoxy sealed to prevent it from leaking fuel .
From *my* experience and what I've seen with others, that problem is like blaming the ECM for how the vehicle runs. 99% of the time it's not the problem.
It IS a problem that exists, or it wouldn't be mentioned as a "fix", it's just that it rarely actually causes a problem. I still seal them (now) when I rebuild one.
