I'm looking for a good source for a Quadrajet for my K5. Right now it has an Edelbrock 1406 that was on it when I bought it. Having had these in the past I'm just not all that impressed with them and this one needs rebuilt as it is.
I have had several carbs built by Sean, every one was a winner.Check Sean Murphy Induction in Ca. When I wanted a qjet I bought a good core and sent it to SMI who then but it based on the engine spec's I provided.

from stock to mild mill, I'll take a quad ALL day over a holley, carter, or e-brocks versions...It requires a seance and black magic to sort a QjetI like Holleys, just not in a 4x4 that's going to see off road use. I found Carter/Edelbrock carbs to be finicky with low manifold vacuum with that stupid secondary design and how you have to adjust it. Quadrjets I've never had an issue with when they run right, I just never had the knack for tuning them but they work well in 4x4 applications. The truck is eventually going to get EFI but I just want a decent runner until then.
I knew a guy that was brilliant with a Qjet but he passed a few years back.It requires a seance and black magic to sort a Qjet
That’s an unfortunate out come for a lot of those guys who can tune carbsI knew a guy that was brilliant with a Qjet but he passed a few years back.

And considering that you are one of those who can tune a Q-jet...That’s an unfortunate out come for a lot of those guys who can tune carbs
I have a Holley truck avenger, they are stupidly overpriced now but they do work well off road. I picked it because Holley was what I was familiar with, but it is hard to beat a qjet off road. I think the biggest problem with the holleys is everyone buys a 670 or 770 and it’s way to much carb for what they have….I’m running a 470 and it’s about perfect for a stock 350. Agree on the edlebrock, I could never get one of those to run right.I like Holleys, just not in a 4x4 that's going to see off road use. Don't forget the chicken bones...It requires a seance and black magic to sort a Qjet
