I've looked around for a bit trying to find something on the subject, but havent been able to dig anything up. I appologize if I have started another thread on it. I cant stand cluttered forums myself.

To the Point:

I bought an 82 Blazer off of a guy with 35's on the rear and ~32's upfront (they're metric) with no lift. I want to run 35's and have been debating on dropping a grand on a good suspension lift, but came accross another idea.

I found a set of 1 ton leafs at the local salvage yard and they want $50 for them. I thought about combing them with two inch blocks and putting them on my rig.

I'm sure they will clear the 35's, but would like some others input. I've always been against blocks, but saving 700+ dollars is enough to make me think twice. What do you guys think about it?

700 bucks is waaaaaay too much for a 82 Blazer lift . And blocks suck period .

To fit 35's with little or no trimming I would get a ( on sale in many brands pick your poison ) 4 inch lift , and an ORd or DIY4x shackle flip set , save several hundred dollars and buy brake lines , a high lift , and tow strap :thumb:

Oh , and then sell the kits 4 inch blocks and brake line brackets on ebay

actualy ord will make a full kit up for you for basicly the same deal as buying all 3 things and you shop 1 stop.

lookup www.offroaddesign.com and then call them for a price on 4" tuff country springs /4" flip kit/ and a set of shocks and breaklines. it will ride super nice and get you a super kit for the best bang for the buck.

tell them ck5.com sent ya thay are a vendor here.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. The blocks and springs just sounded like a quick and cheap route. off to check out ord :D

Just so you know, look hard enough, you will find lift springs for the front used for $50 -$150
I sold mine for $100 3 sets so far.

Pretty much what everyone else said... the extreme budget method is check your local paper and/or Craig's List for front lift springs (usually 4") from pretty much any 1/2 ton chevy '73-'87 (pickups).

Tuff Country springs from ORD (or anywhere else I suppose, but ORD rocks!) are AWESOME. The ride and flex are totally worth the price.

I recommend 4" TC front springs and a shackle flip kit from ORD. To save some cash, you could go with some "Scratch & Dent" superlift shocks from their eBay store. You can also use brake lines from 88-98 trucks as longer brake lines ($15.00 each) instead of the expensive stainless ones from the aftermarket guys.

I haven't done the shackle flip yet (blocks in back :( ) but I just put in 3" TC EZ ride springs in the front with some of those cheap ($10 each) superlift scratch n' dent shocks (on extended super duty towers) and some later model (longer) factory brake lines. I've got 35's with some fender trimming and the ride and flex are pretty outstanding considering how reasonable the total cost is.

I claim no credit for this combo... made all my decisions after reading for hours and hours on this forum! :D

Oh, and whatever you do, please run four tires all the same size!
