question about buying a D60 in utah

You can find em cheaper not everyone knows boyce will buy em. They come up its certainly not a unicorn or anything like that.

yeah, the more the conversation continues, the more I feel like I made the right call. I'm not in a hurry and it sounds like a similar deal will be available again when I'm more ready.

I send my fronts to A4WD systems for an easy 1k here locally (dodge and chevy only, fords go for 400-600). The cucv 14 bolts I sell for 500.00 and I have 1 in stock, actually 2 but the other one is 700.00 and is trussed with several upgrades. I do have a front cucv 60 but it has 2 lockers and am asking 1300.00 for that one, it also has a 1350 yoke and new inner axle seals installed by blazinzuk.

unfortunately the guy had 3 other rock buggies sitting in his shop in various states of rebuilding. He knew exactly what he had so his price was firm.

I decided, reluctantly, to turn it down. I think the price was good, but not "can't pass it up" good. I have bigger fish to fry atm, and there is no way I'm getting my money back out of the tires I just bought, so I'll just hope that I can find a similar deal in the next year or so.

1600.00 is the most you'd ever want to pay for those ever!

I didn't realize you sold stuff like that. I'll look you up when I get ready to buy.

I've had A4WD do quite a few things for me too. I like those guys a lot. Although Randy did run my car over one time. :doah::haha:
funny enough, the guy told me that if I didn't buy it he was just going to sell it to Randy.

That's not a bad price, but keep in mind if those axles need some freshening you could easily sink several hundred dollars in seals, bearings, brake parts, king pins, and that bent tie rod. If it needs freshening that requires more specialized labor, such as pinion bearings, that can really drive the price up if you can't/won't do the work yourself. I'm sure more than a few members on here can tell you about axles that after sinking time, labor and parts into them, they were getting close to the price of a nice built-to-spec Boyce or Dynatrac axle.

If it were me, since any axle I'd get I'd be freshening up anyway, I'd hold out for a better price, especially since you don't seem to have an urgent need. These aren't terribly hard to find, particularly if you are willing to travel or have them shipped. I can't really see paying more than a grand for a non-rebuilt set of axles. That might-as-well bug can bite pretty hard, though, lol.
