Has anyone used the front seats out of a newer (01-up) silverado in a 73-87 standard cab pickup? They have the seatbelts built-in a I was wondering if they will work.

They fit, their comfy but there's more to it than that if you do the install correctly and want to use the shoulder belts.

Reinforcing the floor where the seat mounts become mandatory to be safe.

With a built in shoulder restraint, if you have a frontal impact, all your weight and inertia apply huge forces on the seat mounts and if the front section of the floor gives way (pushes through the floor) or the rear mounts rip out, it will cantilever you into the dash.

Or the alternative is to enjoy the seats for their comfort while still using the stock 2 point belt system.

I have the truck riped appart, and have a set of heated/power leather seats, so I am going to reinforce the floor and go for it!

actually during a frontal impact the stress isnt on the seat mounts at the front, but at the rear. during a rapid decelleration sequence your body weight will go forward, but also slightly up at about a 15 degree angle (because the front end of the vehicle is now diving downward). in other words, the forces will not push you "through the floor". reinforcing the floor is a good idea anyway on an older truck, but apply more of your reinforcing skills and work to the rear mounts.

JP0863, you may be right. But vtblazer conjured up a painful image in my mind... one I never thought about with the seat belt integrated into the seat. I would hate to be fastend to my seat as it catapulted me into my dash.

Reinforcing the floor shoud be a piece of cake, especially if you have a welder.

I've seen pics of this happening, that's why I pass it along.

In 'those' particular pics, the front seat mounts did rip through the floor, it was freakin' scary to see.
Not to dis agree with ya jp0863, your explanation is 100% correct but in that case it didn't happen that way.

Option two is to keep running the two point lap belts until you get the floor done.
