This might seem weird, but I am a fanatic about spares. I LOVE it when I break something on the trail, and I have exactly that part in the truck box, ready to bolt in and get back on the trail.

Don't get me wrong, I am all about maintenance, as well, but I carry things like front and rear driveshafts complete (and rebuilt with Ujoints, etc), a spare alternator, a spare fuel pump, etc. I also bring along the tools and knowhoe to fix whatever I break.

HOWEVER... recently, I broke a bolt and I din't have a spare one. And that made me wonder if anyone has ever made a list of all the possible sizes of bolt/nut in a chevy?

I'd like to go out and buy a bunch of grade 8 hardware to keep in a box in the truck, so when I need it, I have it. I currently save everything I take off the truck, and toss that in, but I was wondering if anyone had ever made a list?

Thanks!

For as long as our trucks have been around who knows what the bolts/nuts are now compared to when they rolled off the factory line...

I know my truck has philips, flat head, bolts and all of the above in metric and standard...

Its weird but like I said I bet each truck is different so you'd have to look through your truck and make a specific list...

Yeah, I was more wondering about the "important" stuff:

-Drive Shafts (flanges and yokes)
-Shackle Bolts

Stuff like that. Maybe this would be too big a list...

I carry various sizes of bolts/nuts, most of them off of GM trucks. There are only a few bolts that would render you immobile if they broke. Even a shackle bolt won't render the vehicle useless.
