i swaped my 79 frt drive pulleys and stuff for a 89 serpsetup . how do i swap the alt wires to the new plug. i have the pigtail cut from the donor truck about 6" of it. thanks.

The difference is whether your truck has a gauge or a light on the dash for the alt. If the donor is the same you can just splice in the wiring, other wise you may need a resister in the circuit for the alt to charge properly. When I converted to the serpentine system, the donor truck had a gauge just like my K5. Spliced it in, and have had no problems.
both were gauge style. do you recall the color matching up codes?
