My power steering belt broke. when I drive with out it my pump pukes oil. Can I safely drive to the parts store, then home (about 5 miles), or will it hurt the pump?

If the pump isn't spinning, there's no way that it can be hurt, it's just a stationary object bolted to the engine.

My concern is that while turning the wheel manualy it is forcing the steering fluid to backwards or something crazy like that. All I know is that it makes a big, big mess all over the places.
Thanks.

As long as you don't try to force the steering wheel it won't hurt it. Just try to be as easy on the steering wheel as you can. As long as you stay on the street you should get in enough of a bind to hurt anything.
