I wanted to be able to remove my seats for easy for passenger access to the rear seat area, not that thats going to be easy with a center console in the way, but If I need to weld or work on the truck and need the seats removed it would be quick. Im undecided if this is a good idea or not. I know it means someone could steal my seats easier but they have to get the door open to pull the pins to get the seats. Ofcourse I will have locking doors.

I made these test mock up pins out of cold rolled 1/2 steel. I will make them out of Stainless Steel so they wont rust and I wont have to paint or powder coat them. These pins fit very nice, have jusr a snug fit once fully installed. The seats dont rattle at all, especially with my weight in the seat.

Whats your openions on this idea.

I think, with SS pins, it might work ok. I would consider possibly doing a bushing and more of a hinge in the front with the pins at the rear. This would allow the seat to pivot forward when you needed access to the rear, and would be fairly easy to remove if you needed to do work below the seats.

I flipped the seat forward on the pin and it does not allow enough tilt for a person to get thru at all. The seat pretty much has to be removed for good access unfortunately. Its not hard to remove at all, just takes a moment. I will use 316 SS for the pins. Im not going to bother with heat treating the pins for strength. I think there plenty strong.

Another thought is when Im NOT driving it and its parked I could remove the seats so it would be hell to drive if someone stole it. Without seats you cant stand and drive and reach the gas all bent over, and if you tried to sit down you cant see. THAT I LIKE. I was going to run a quick release steering wheel too so with both missing it would have to be pulled up on a flat bed to be stolen.

If you got harnesses with quick release ends instead of bolts , nothing will tether it down after you pull the pins :thumb:

Harnesses will be tab bolted. I still dont know why I got this hair up my but to do this, I just thought it might be kindof a cool thing. I can pull my seats in seconds. Its pretty cool. I have all the adjustment I need. I can tilt it a few degrees with the holes or have it flatter with the holes.

Plus there is the slot in the seat base so I can adjust the seat an inch there aswell. I can allways go back and just bolt it up, But for now Im going to make some pins out of SS and run it. For mock up for the cage having to remove the seats or throw them back in its way faster.
