I have a 90 1/2 ton suburban. I just rough measured my springs. Fronts were 47" and rears were 56". Does this sound right? Give or take? Or does anyone know how long they really are?

I ask because I have a guy wanting to sell me a kit with 46" fronts and 50" rears (unloaded). The fronts I assume would work, what about the rears?

I plan on doing a DIY4X shackle flip. Is this do-able? Some one help!!! This guy wants an answer!

Ps. He said it is for a 73 - 87.

PPS.:bow::bow: Thank you to the brotherhood of knowledge!

The rear springs will not work, there are 2 sizes 52" and 56". You need the 56" for your Burb, if you just use the fronts and then a flip kit it should work. What were they installed on?

Hmmmm, I might still go for it. It's a screaming price. I wonder if I could just sell the rears separate? Are they marketable???

But we're sure the fronts will work??

:doah:

Got em! Yeah, the rears are too short, but I'm doing a diy4x shackle flip so I may not need larger springs. Couldn't pass the deal up.

The leafs have like a plastic or something between them...is this normal???

I've never seen this before, should I re-use it or just scrap it?

Glad you brought this up. I have a set of springs i was gona sell (not going to now) and the guy measured them and said they were 54". I'm pretty sure they're 52's but he says they're for a Ford. I mean the guy that owned it before me notched the shackle out for the springs to bolt up...Is this possible??

BTW sorry for the hijack. I'd take a pic but it's dark

The plastic pads at the end of each leaf are to reduce friction and to reduce wear on the springs.

If the guy says they're for a Ford why don't you believe him? How wide are the springs?

ok i went and measured and one came out to be 53 1/2" and the other 52"..WTF?? I measured it 3 times too. They are both 2 1/2" wide also. I thought they should be 3"?? You think BDS could have made a mistake??

My friend owned it before me and when he ordered the kit they came together. I helped put em on so i saw him open the box.

Here's some pics of the shackle angle and the number. It never looked right to me cause the spring is WAY too close to the shackle IMO but what do i know about this stuff

So these springs have been powder coated...

From what I know of powder coating the temp is around 450*, right about?

Would heating them to this temp cause any structural issues with the springs???

They came off a show truck (before anyone asks WTF they're PC'd).

not straight across, along the arc of the spring from center to center of bolt heads. rootbreaker had the same problem a while back, had 56" springs were there once was 52" 's and it looked the same way.

they may be weaker now, and sag quicker. who knows.

there you got all your answers noob.

those are bds 56''-6'' lift springs...i google gm lift springs 001608 (# painted on the spring)

btw looks like springs are closer to shackle b/c 56'' where 52's should be(like was said)..looks like spring is rubbing on shackle mount :-0

Hmm i didn't know that. so My blazer has 56" springs too?? they should be 52" measuring the arc correct?? cause IIRC they were 52" from center to center straight across

If they're 56" springs on the truck i guess if i use them on my stepside i'll have to move the rear shackle back...or would that move the whole axle back. Damnit i wish i could get home early enough to see in the daytime

Ok now I'm really confused. I just measured them again and got 54" on the rears. WTF? Anyone got a clue?

The guy said they came off a show Blazer.

I'm lost....
