Radius Arms or 3-Link?

Will definitely have to make it up there some day. 9 hour drive. I could not find the rules for truck classes. Do you have a direct link. Not sure if mine would fall in any class. Stock motor and trans, suspension on steroids.

radius arms rock for what your saying you want it to do.

as for coils rather than coil overs, my truck was on coils the 1st year after I did the conversion. It is not as adjustable or easy to tune but it will do great once you get the right spring rate and your hight set

I have the cage arms as well, I love them, BEEFY. The cage arms are super easy to set up and its a well proven design. If you do co coils rather than coil over just make some way to have it adjustable. Look at ballistic fabrications coil bucket for inspiration, how ever it is designed for a smaller coil such as that found on a TJ

I finally hit 15 posts so I can contibute to this thread--
Here's my frontend, well, in the build stage--

my steering shaft solution for better coilover clearance-
jinubl.jpg

It's tight up there, drag link tucks between the engine crossmember, and track bar has about 3/4" of oil pan clearance, and that was with the small block in there... :doah: haven't gotten the 454 in to check yet but there may be some issues...

Looks like a nice start... keep posting pics! :)

I like your build... and it looks good.
I do recommend looking at your track bar up front though. The clearance is really important. I also like going fast. My blazer has 4 link front and rear with bypasses and coilovers (dana 60 up front). I have driven faster than my parts could handle and my "fuse" is the track bar apparently. It bent, hit the oil pan, and cracked mounts and the steering box. I also have waaay more clearance than you do (though you mount is shorter).
Just my experience...

Listen to Juan. He can not go as fast as me,:D but he can wheel it a whole lot harder.

Wade, so what did you break? I heard you had some carnage too... the guy who built my suspension says that sometimes a person can outdrive the parts they have... but he said that's how it goes... beat it till it breaks... strengthen it... and when its all a big piece of weld and gusset.... take your parts and build a new chassis;)

That is where I am. Just kidding. Cracked the gussets for the double sheer on the top A link in the rear. Could have been a bad thing. No big deal to fix. Just have to remove most of the rear section of the truck.

It's coming along:

at least it's on the ground now... I'm hoping the front will work ok, the drag link and track bar have the same angle and are located very close to each other, so there should be minimal bumpsteer. I'm going to add some more gussets to the track bar mount on the frame end though per your suggestion, I'd like the axle to stay under the truck if at all possible. :D

Juan-- I love your rig, very nice and the front clip is awesome. I wanted to do that too, but the 800+ bucks plus shipping to MI kinda killed it.

Ill echo juan,

Trac bar needs beef at the frame side. Its the one real problem I had, its fixed now but was a head ache and ripped the frame up pretty bad. Over kill is a good idea on this area.

Using a coil-over as you are, you might consider another tie-in from your upper bar to the frame. I have more even though the weight is on my leafs. Just a thought.

That's a pretty good idea--- let me look at it closer and see what I can come up with. BTW Chris, I have pics of your flying machine up in the garage as inspiration :D

BACK FROM THE DEADDDD!!!

Did this ever go anywhere? Im looking into radius arms also and there isn't a whole lot about them on here

Those radius arms they were cage are now bloodyknucklegarage arms. I straight axled my extended cab 2003 hd with them and some decently soft coils from them and it drives great on trails and mild offroad. Although shawn will show and tell you they hold up to alot more. There also pretty beefy and heavily made.

Although i bought the whole kit with coil buckets(upper/lower), coils, dual shock hoops, trac bar and radius arms plus all the hardware. I used ord crossover and bilstein 5125s since there valved for dual shocks.

Anyway look into them if you want, or bulild a set prob cheaper...
