Was reading through the thread and it is full of great info. One thing I questioned was were to mount the taps for the ram stroke.
WFO owner told me to make sure to order a ram not completely sealed to slip a pipe inside to limit the throw. This will limit the stress put on the knuckle when it is turned to the max and the ram says MORE.
Anybody do this?
What are you talkin bout here? Opening the ram and putting a length of pipe in there to limit travel? Not familiar with this idea. How would you limit it from the outside like somebody else mentioned? I'm getting ready to order the 1.5x8 PSC ram. It will have thread on heims/jam nuts so I'm guessing I can adjust/tweak the throw that way.
BTW- what are your guys stock throws? My tierod moves 8 7/8" from lock to lock past a given spot on the axle.
I hate the thought of bending the new ram mouted in the factory location so I plan on mounting it a lil higher then the tierod. Hopefully the ram body won't hit the leaf springs when turned and flexed.
You guys all tap your gear box with 3/8?
Hydraulic line kits are $70 from PSC. I can go up the street and buy swivel end 90* fittings/adaptors and 48" premade 4000 lbs. hose for about $40. Thoughts on this?
