on the crapper...
I just moved my 700R4 from my parts truck to my project truck.

I went to hook up the trans breather and found that the OD of the plastic line out of the trans is about half the ID of the rubber breather line from both trucks. I must be missing a part. How does it get hooked up? Where do I get the part?

Where is the best (best = cheapest) place to get poly trans mounts?

There is a socket on the frame to support the shift linkage. Again I must be missing a part since the shift linkage just has a rod sticking out that way, while the socket appears to be for some kind of bushing I don't have. How does it all go together? Where do I get the part?

Thanks in advance.

The tranny never had a breather tube, just a small clear or white plastic tube a couple inches long sticking out of the trans case.

Hmm, there is a breather tube with a clip that was under one of the engine/trans bolts. Did that come from something else? I assume people must extend the breather from that little white plastic tube up higher to prevent drowning the trans. Do you just use smaller ID line for that?

That was for the t-case breather. It was under a trans bell bolt on the driver side with a white rattle cap on it.

Ok that makes sense. I haven't put the t-case back in yet, so I didn't think of that. Any ideas on the other two questions?

I haven't seen anyone add a breather hose to the tranny breather tube.

Poly mounts i have no idea who sells them the cheapest.

I extended my tranny breather tube up to the top of the firewall. I used standard vacuum / fuel line for it, but I used a piece of intermediate-sized vacuum line to go between the tiny clear tube and the long tube. I used trial and error with scrap tubing to find a size that fit over the tiny tubing and inside the fuel line. I used a little silicone to hold the assembly together.

The least expensive tranny mount I found was this one at AutoZone of all places. $52 with no shipping charge. I ordered it at the counter and picked it up at the store two days later. Not bad.

Anybody have any tips on the shift linkage question?

To extend my tranny breather tube, when I had it apart for the rebuild, I drilled it out and tapped it for 1/8" npt.
