Range Rover ?? any good??

I'll take a few pics next time I get a chance to get over there. It's dark by the time I get out of work. Seemed to be pretty clean... I know I know... Pictures pictures pictures

Listening to guy complain about RR is kinda funny.

My RR is an 04 and I wouldn't give it up for nothing.
The difference between a RR owner and blazer is what someone is whiling to live with.
Blazer owner
On a blazer the back window gets stuck ->who cares
AC doesn't work-> roll down the windows
door doesn't shut right ->just slam it
break a u joint-> remove it and throw it in 4x4
rust through the floor ->who cares
Car doesn't drive straight-> just turn the wheel a little lol

RR owner
steering wheel heater doesn't get warm enough ->take it to the dealer
car didn't remember to change settings based on who got it ->take it to the dealer
butt warmer got to hot ->take it to the dealer.

Get my drift? A lot RR owners seems to complain a lot and the dumbest issues will result in a trip to the dealer.

I can tow my 4000lb boat up a hill doing 80mph without breaking a sweat in the RR. I can only do 55mph in the Blazer while in second gear struggling.

This year it snowed 15 inches where I live Blazer did 3 360's and got stuck at the bottom of a hill. The RR never spun once and made it up the hill with ease (actually towed the blazer up). RR has wide low profile street tires and blazer has BFgoodwrich mud terrains.

Each has there puspose. I can go bash the blazer around and not care. If it required hauling my family around I would choose the RR any day! If you want to bash a RR i'd probably remove most of the electronics to make it comparable to a blazer but then you might as well get a discovery. Less parts to break means fewer problems when bashing :)

from what ive seen they are high maintanence, but darn good offroad. boggles my brain how they do it, but they do.

personally i like the old ones you see in safari movies, we call em "4 bolt trucks", because you can undo just about anything with just 4 bolts. those are very cool trucks indeed. i dont think id get one of the newer ones though.

Thats way too nice to scrap. If it were a scraped up rotter then yeah. Those things are basically the K5 of Europe. I wouldn't scrap it, if your handy with tools, they are pretty damn easy to work on. I have done head gaskets on them and they literally take half a day to do BOTH sides plus about $150 in parts. They never really flat out strand you, you get fairly advance warning of a problem. You could atleast have a cheap daily driven wheeler for the winter.

well I may not scrap it after all... I talked to a couple of local rover specialists(thanks ktmoutfront), they both confirmed that they're pretty problematic rigs etc etc, and that the value isnt that great on them. But, both of them said they'd entertain the thought of giving me half of what I'd have into it. So I would net some cash to put back into my K5 fund and end up with a few other goodies. 9000lb warn, brand new tires (to sell and make more $$) and the ARB bumper that I could potentially make a couple bucks on.... So I guess I'm jsut making an investment and hoping to get a return...

How does this one have a "normal" looking wheel bolt pattern!? mine has a 5x1.5 mile pattern.

it may have axles under it from a later DiscoII which use a similar wheel bolt pattern as a chevy, 5x120mm or 4.5 inches or so. The one like yours is like 5x6-6.5 inches! They are cool old trucks if you like a challenge and are handy with tools.

bought it! $1000 cash. Gotta find a way to get it home today. It runs, I just don't wanna risk overheating and causing more damage.

I know this guy, Juha Niinikoski!

Some of these truck also have factory lockers straight from the factory.
Would make a nice weekend warrior if you removed up bunch of the unneeded electronics.

I think it may have E-lockers or something.. its got some odd looking buttons on the dash, but not real sure what they are yet. Gotta hit up the owners manual on this one.....
