Rare Item Found - 14 Bolt Full Floater 6 Lug!!! - Pics

Donovan,

This is not a bashing session, I was just passing the info onto others. I hadn't heard in a while if you were still doing this mod nor did I know it was your idea. I dont know if this makes sense, but think about the Crossover steering system. Who designed this for a GM? I would assume either Ford or Jeep did! So, we stole their ideas. Its all about making progress. I am glad you posted pics and made some of us use our brains. Now, if you could market a kit to do this and put a patent on it, that would be awesome. I appreciate having you around this site, we need someone who is constantly developing cool mods. I apologize for bashing you.

I didn't take it as Bashing I was just telling you guys my plan was to make it for the stock 14 bolt brakes and that is all. I liked Ken's better but you have to weld the caliper bracket on. If Ken could make the bracket bolt on you are in business.

Got Leafs??

you could make the bracket bolt on but I could not see why to do so or why to spend the money to make it happen. I looked at useing the backing plate from a d44 and a spacer but it would not work well. This way was cheap and durty but works better than the TSM kit I was useing.

Donovan - Just out of curiosity, are you going to sell this kit? I'd be interested if you are. Any idea on approximate cost? Thanks.

On the new tcase, is it going to be as strong as a np205? Are you going to market these? Have you been talking with Obrian 4x4, he said he was going to do this over a year and a half ago.

What ratios for the transfer case?

Thanks
Depdog

I have not got the t/case done yet. It has been a hard year just trying to keep the business going. So we have done everything to keep it going and there has not been much time for other projects. I have the cases milled out and all the parts for it. Steve Fox has seen it in the early stages. I hope around christmas time I will be able to get back on it. The ratio will be 1 to 1, 2.7 to 1, and 7.3 to 1 and it should be the same lenght as the 203 but about 75lbs lighter.

Damn, talk about a low range. What about the strength? That low a ratio wont the gears be kinda small?

Is this a one off, or are you planning on producing it. The one that obrian had talked about was going to have a slight overdrive instead of 1 to 1.

I am building a one off but I have got quotes to cast the case and that is not cheap but it would save a lot of machining time. If it works out good I will try to build them. They will be as strong as a 205 I hope. I will try to beat it up with the Caddy 500 engine that I am sliding into my Jimmy now. My high range will not be and underdrive but it will be 1 to 1.
