With the money you saved you could add several extra 220 plugs in your garage and still be way ahead.:waytogo: Plus its been my experience that 220 motors last longer than 110s. When I bought my compressor 220 was a requirement and I bought the stuff and added in a 220 plug where I wanted it.

I opted to run my compressor on 220V seeing the motor would run on 110V or 220V,it draws only 7.5 amps instead of 15 on 220V vs 110V,an electrician told me it would use less electricity on 220V....motor runs cooler than it used too on 110V too..its only a 1.5 HP motor, but the tank is 60 gallons, has a two cylinder single stage speedaire pump..only pumps up to 115 psi,but its good enough for what I used it for..

Heres she is, I went to the hardware store and got 10ft of 10/3 round wire instead the 3ft romex. Got it all set up to paint the Chevy.

Sorry the picture is sideways, stupid iPhone

I pumped it up to 180 today and the head was really hot. Is that normal, I checked the oil level and it was good. It only took 1 min to build up pressure, I'm just worried if I work it for a hour or so It will overheat

I'd say its normal,I cant touch the compressor head on mine once its been run a few minutes (mine takes a good 4 or 5 minutes from zero to full pressure though)....air gets HOT when compressed, thats how diesels run without spark plugs, the heat produced by high compression will ignite the fuel..

I found out the flywheel pulley on mine was on the compressor facing the wrong way,(it has an arrow casted on it to indicate the rotation)--and the spokes on the flywheel pulley are angled to work as a fan, when I flipped it around the other way it helped it to run cooler--lord knows how long the prevoius owner ran it like that!..

Ok cool I won't worry about it. It just seems like a lot of heat but I have nothing to compare it to
